CLUTCH CABLE BROKE IN HALF WHILE RIDING. THIS IS THE 3RD CLUTCH CABLE THAT'S BROKEN ON THIS BIKE IN THE LAST 14 MONTHS AND APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM (BASED ON ONLINE FORUM DISCUSSIONS WHERE OTHERS HAVE REPORTED THE SAME FAILURES). CLUTCH CABLE BROKE IN HALF WHILE RIDING. THIS IS THE 3RD CLUTCH CABLE THAT'S BROKEN ON THIS BIKE IN THE LAST 14 MONTHS AND APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM (BASED ON ONLINE FORUM DISCUSSIONS WHERE OTHERS HAVE REPORTED THE SAME FAILURES). WHEN THE CABLE BREAKS ITS VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL THE BIKE AND BECOMES A SAFETY ISSUE. LUCKILY ALL THREE TIMES I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD THEN KILL THE ENGINE AND (ABRUPTLY) STOP. IN HEAVIER TRAFFIC I BELIEVE IT WOULD HAVE CAUSED A WRECK. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE BUT INSTEAD OWNERS ARE REQUIRED TO PURCHASE A $400 HYDRAULIC CLUTCH UPGRADE KIT AND INSTALL IT. *TR
