The contact was able to restart the vehicle; however, there was a burning odor, and white smoke was coming from the HVAC system and the engine compartment. The contact turned off and exited the vehicle and the smoking stopped. The contact called the local Police to assist with directing traffic while waiting for towing assistance. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The dealer attempted to return the vehicle to the contact after 3 weeks without confirmation of the diagnostic results or any repairs. The contact stated that the vehicle had been taken to the dealer before the failure had occurred to be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 25V767000 (Engine and Engine Cooling), 25V322000 (Exterior Lighting), 26V038000 (Back Over Prevention); however, the dealer failed to complete the recall repair because there was not enough mechanics to perform the repairs. The manufacturer was informed of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 26,000.

I am the owner of a 2024 Toyota Tundra. My vehicle is subject to open NHTSA Recall No. 25V-332, for which I received notification. It has now been over a year since this recall was issued, and no remedy has been made available to me. I have contacted my Toyota dealership and was told the remedy parts are not yet available' or 'no timeline could be provided. This unresolved recall leaves my vehicle in a condition that Toyota itself has identified as an unreasonable safety risk. The prolonged delay in providing a free remedy, as required under the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act, is my basis for this complaint. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate Toyota's compliance with recall remedy timelines and follow up on the status of parts/software availability for this recall.

engine knocks on start up or is very rough. the truck only has 8200 miles on it. i’m waiting for the recall to be processed but it’s been 2 years and i’m still waiting. i want to sell the truck because im afraid of it breaking down when i need it. but no one wants to buy the truck based on issues with the engines Toyota put in the trucks. how long do i have to wait for a new engine with the same design flaw? why is this issue taking so long to be rectified.How long do i have to wait for the back up light s issue to be resolved also? that’s also been 2 years! who’s sleeping at the wheel here to put pressure on Toyota?

My 2024 Toyota Tundra 1794 Edition, VIN [XXX], is subject to Toyota Safety Recall 25TA06, Interim 25TB06, NHTSA Recall 25V322, concerning reverse lamps that may become inoperable. The recall was announced in May 2025, but a repair remedy has still not been made available for my vehicle. The truck is primarily used for family transportation, including trips and nighttime driving. I experienced a minor, low-speed property-damage incident while reversing in a poorly lit garage area. Visibility behind and beside the vehicle was limited, and the truck contacted a garage-door support column before the garage lighting came on. The incident caused minor cosmetic side damage. There were no injuries, no structural damage, no police report, and no insurance claim. I previously advised Toyota that I had experienced an issue related to the recall. Toyota opened Customer Experience Case [XXX]. Toyota offered to keep my truck at a dealership indefinitely and provide alternate transportation until a remedy became available, but it could not guarantee a comparable Tundra 1794 or provide an estimated repair date. Toyota later opened repurchase review Case [XXX]. I promptly provided the requested documentation, but despite repeated telephone and email follow-ups, Toyota has not provided a meaningful review timeline, vehicle inspection date, or final determination. My primary complaint to NHTSA is the extended period without an available safety remedy and the continuing risk to owners operating affected vehicles. I respectfully request that NHTSA review the adequacy and timeliness of Toyota’s recall remedy process for this defect. NHTSA campaign 25V767 (manufacturer no. 25TB14) covers a V35A engine manufacturing defect where leftover machining debris can damage the main bearing, leading to engine knocking, rough running, no-start, or loss of drive power while driving. No engine symptoms have occurred to date. However, the vehicle is used for rideshare and delivery work, meaning passengers and cargo are regularly on board while this known defect remains unremedied. The dealership stated it could not address the engine recall and directed me to Toyota corporate. Toyota corporate opened a case and confirmed no remedy is currently available for this recall. The vehicle has not been inspected by the dealer or manufacturer, as no repair or inspection procedure has yet been provided to perform one. No warning lamps or dashboard messages have been observed. Vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Concern: a known crash-risk engine defect (loss of drive power) has been acknowledged by the manufacturer for over a year with still no completed remedy, while the vehicle continues to be operated commercially with passengers.
