2024 Toyota Tundra

On XXX6, while driving on the highway at approximately 89 mph and 36,714 miles, the engine misfired and the vehicle began shaking. The check engine light started flashing and a "reduced power, visit dealer" message appeared, along with a loss of motive power. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on XXX at 37,032 miles. The dealer's repair order documents stored diagnostic trouble codes for random misfires, and states that freeze frame data confirmed misfires on cylinders 3, 4 and 5 at 89 mph and 2700 rpm in direct injection mode. Despite this, the repair order was closed as "no issue found." No repair and no further diagnosis was performed. The dealer stated the condition could not be duplicated after driving the vehicle and idling it for about an hour. The vehicle is subject to an open safety recall for machining debris in the engine (NHTSA 25V767, manufacturer 25TB14), for which no remedy is available. The recall summary lists engine knocking, rough running, no-start and loss of motive power as symptoms, and instructs owners experiencing symptoms to contact their dealer. When contacted, the dealer stated the manufacturer is still developing a remedy and that the vehicle can either wait indefinitely or be picked up as is. The defect remains undiagnosed and unrepaired. The vehicle is available for inspection. The safety concern is a sudden loss of motive power at highway speed, which is the same risk identified in the manufacturer's own recall filing. Engine stalls or hesitates when taking off from a stop. When taking off from a stop the Truck will hesitate after the accelerator is pushed and not move forward. This hesitation causes me to push the accelerator more trying to get the Truck to move. When the truck does move it then lunges forward I assume because I continue to push the accelerator more trying to get the Truck to move. The engine in this Truck is also being recalled in Non Hybrid Models because they are seizing up. This is the exact same engine in the Hybrid and should be under the same recall for the engine seize defect.

* 2024 Toyota Tundra Limited non hybrid TRD Off Road with 43k miles with catastrophic engine failure with no warning. Started as a very slight ticking sound while doing about 60 mph level to slightly downhill. * I could only hear it with very light throttle input (between 2 and 5%). Past 5% and at 0 pedal there was nothing. This went on for about 1 minute then it started to get significantly louder and more noticeable with throttle input and while starting to go uphill. * Shortly after it started catastrophically knocking with dash saying loss of power and oil pressure. * I get it stopped and it immediately shut down on its own. Due to very little warning I was forced to pull over on a right curve of a highway potentially putting my family and as well as passing traffic in danger. * Engine leaking oil. Couldn’t find anything obvious where the oil was coming from. After doing some research it seems like the front and main crank seals started leaking. More noticeable on the rear seal. This was a dangerous situation because oil was leaking on the hot exhaust and could have cased a fire on the side of a highway. * The Toyota dealer has possession of the vehicle for repairs. They have not stated if it is possible to be available for inspection. * The dealer has inspected the vehicle and is in the process of ordering a replacement engine.

I am writing to formally express my concern regarding my 2024 Toyota Tundra, VIN [XXX], and the engine recall involving certain 2024 Tundra vehicles. I am very concerned about the possibility of engine damage or failure related to machining debris and the potential for loss of power while driving. The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine compartment. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the short block engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact researched and became aware of an unknown recall; however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.

Total engine failure in v35a at 65- 70 mph which dealer has confirmed was due to main bearing failure. Inability to accelerate vehicle in heavy traffic lead to extreme unsafe situation. No warning lamps came on until after the vehicle completed stopped running. Both the manufacturer and the NHTSA are well aware of the continued problems with these engines and the unsafe failure. The only warning ‘hybrid system malfunction “( which has nothing to do with dealer performed diagnostic of metal in oil pan failed main bearing) came on after the truck was inoperable.

engine knocks on start up or is very rough. the truck only has 8200 miles on it. i’m waiting for the recall to be processed but it’s been 2 years and i’m still waiting. i want to sell the truck because im afraid of it breaking down when i need it. but no one wants to buy the truck based on issues with the engines Toyota put in the trucks. how long do i have to wait for a new engine with the same design flaw? why is this issue taking so long to be rectified.How long do i have to wait for the back up light s issue to be resolved also? that’s also been 2 years! who’s sleeping at the wheel here to put pressure on Toyota?

“Before purchasing the vehicle new, I specifically asked the selling dealership about the known engine-related stop-sale concerns affecting Toyota Tundras. I was advised that the applicable issue involving this vehicle had been addressed and that the truck had been cleared for sale. The vehicle was subsequently sold to me as new. At approximately 5,141 miles, an independent repair facility documented gold-colored shavings/material in the engine oil filter. The filter has been preserved. My VIN currently shows no unrepaired recall. I have formally notified Toyota Motor Sales and requested that Toyota identify what stop-sale, recall, inspection, remedy, or other corrective procedure was performed on this specific VIN before it was released for sale. The composition and source of the material have not yet been determined. I am concerned that, if the material represents abnormal internal engine wear, the condition could potentially result in engine failure and loss of motive power while driving.

July 31, 2026 driving on the Garden State Parkway in NJ in traffic at 65 mph in the far left lane, my engine seized without warning. The car started beeping and the dash lit up something like engine stopped low steering power. I had to maneuver across 2 lanes of high-speed traffic with no power, limited steering and brakes. Then coasted to a stop and tried to restart the engine. Only a click, nothing. After that I had to wait on the side of the highway for 20-30 minutes with cars speeding by only inches away so fast it shook the truck. One miscalculation by a driver could have resulted in a crash I was towed to my house, then towed to Toyota dealer. They confirmed my engined seized due to recall 25TB14 SAFETY RECALL - 25TA14 (INTERIM NOTICE 25TB14) and replaced the engine. Vehicle had 22,3xx miles when it failed and was less than 2 years old.

Engine knocking at normal highway speeds when gas pedal not pressed. At idle very loud engine knock. While i was driving to the dealership engine shut off at highway speeds causing me to swerve in an out of traffic to pull over safely complete engine loss power...i took it to toyota ON 8/12/26 they confirmed main bearing in cylinder 1 failed. Toyota states new motor to be installed.
