Sometimes my truck hesitates from leaving a complete stop. I will press on the accelerator and there is throttle lag response, which causes me to pull out slower than expected. There was one time where I pulled out and lost throttle power in traffic. I have taken it to the dealer and reported this Issue. They flashed the ECU and said that was the only fix they had, but it didn’t do much difference I still experienced the throttle lag from a dead stop.

Hesitation from a stop. Vehicle isn’t following pedal input and at times can put me into a side collision. Lane keep assist is dangerous and throws me off the road constantly. At times the lane assist will fight my input at the wheel and pull me off-road and over the lines.

My son was driving our 2023 Toyota Tundra (non-hybrid) at approximately 25-30 miles an hour when the engine shut down. He had difficulty steering but was able to safely brake to a stop in the middle of the road. Cars were forced to pass him on the shoulder. He was unable to restart the engine for what he estimates was approximately one minute. He was finally able to restart the engine and drive home. The next day I drove it to the Toyota dealer. The engine stalled on me one block from the dealer on a busy intersection. I was able to get it restarted, out of traffic and into the dealership where it sits today. There were no apparent symptoms with the vehicle prior to it stalling on my son. I received an engine failure warning message when the vehicle stalled on me. The dealership looked at the engine and stated that there is lose debris in the engine. The dealership has stated that they are unable to give me a diagnoses letter or a repair order at this time. Once they repair is made, they can give me something in writing. This issue appears to be similar Safety Recall 24TA07. However, Toyota is stating that my vehicle does not fall under 24TA07. It appears have a vehicle with an engine stall safety issue that is not attached to a recall.

The issue is with the auto-braking or pre collision system. Have had multiple instances where system has engaged at low speed which also engaged the auto engine stop feature when it was not necessary. Have noticed system engages on roads with curves where it thinks the vehicle in the other lane is in front of me when its not. The most unsafe thing that happened was when a vehicle quickly changed lanes in front of me and slowed slightly. I saw the other vehicle make the unsafe lane change and was covering the brake and when i pressed the brake it went out from under my foot braking hard on its own when it was not necessary. Vehicle slowed from 65 to about 35 quickly almost causing vehicle behind me to rear end me with no way to stop the system. Since i have owned this vehicle auto brake system has engaged about 5 times and all were not necessary or unsafe. I have lowered sensitivity setting and still have the issue, and am unable to disable system.

In some cases when slowing down to a very low speed an trying to to accelerate again. There can be either a brief (1/2 second) or a very long ( > 1/2 second) delay between pressing the accelerator and the engine responding. Because of this delay its very hard to gauge when and how the vehicle will respond. In some conditions this can be a safety concern as the vehicle behaves unpredictably. I was able to verify this with engine logging data the data shows that the computer acknowledges the accelerator position but fails to advance the throttle or by any means add power for a period of time and then behaves in a expected manner after a delay between 1/2 to 1 second. The best I can gather the problem happens in a timing window when the transmission shifts from a higher gear to 1st gear. I took into the dealer who also verified the concern and opened a TAS case with Toyota. TAS took my data but provided no information or guidance to the dealership.

I have never been so close to a severely injured or more likely fatal car crash. this severity has happened twice, once with my daughter in the car. 3. Not yet. looks like there had almost been a class action law suit back to 2022 model year (same engine I believe). 4. No 5. No warning lights ever. as stated this is going back to 2022 and i haven’t visited a dealer yet as they tell the owners (there is no fix for the issue). hoping this forum can make a difference.
