2023 Toyota Tundra

Multiple vehicle systems have malfunctioned, including the transmission, infotainment/display screen, and backup camera. Most recently, the backup camera has stopped functioning, preventing a rear view while reversing. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request, along with any service records documenting prior repair attempts.The transmission issues created an unsafe driving condition due to unpredictable shifting and hesitation. In addition, the backup camera is no longer functioning, significantly reducing rear visibility while reversing and increasing the risk of striking a pedestrian, child, vehicle, or object. These defects pose a safety risk to both the driver and others around the vehicle.The vehicle has been presented to an authorized Toyota dealership on multiple occasions for repair of various issues. Most recently, I sought service for the inoperative backup camera but was refused service. Previous concerns have been documented through dealership service visits.The vehicle has been inspected by an authorized Toyota dealership during previous repair attempts. It has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives.The vehicle experienced ongoing drivability and infotainment issues before the backup camera failed. The backup camera eventually stopped functioning entirely.

The contact owns a 2023 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that while driving the front recognition camera, controls preclusion system, emergency braking etc. The vehicle was taken to the dealer at diagnosed with C1A9447; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 25,000.

My reverse stopped working, it just shows a black screen when I switch to it. The rest of my entertainment console works, it's only when I put it in reverse that it goes black. I saw that there was a recall issued for 2024 and 2025 Toyota Tundras, but I believe that the 2023 should be included as well. It looks to be a common issue, as I saw 2023 Tundras with a higher trim package also had a recall for the backup camera.

Weber Road Romeoville, IL 60446 ________________________________________ Description of the Safety Issue and Delay I am filing this complaint to report an excessive and unreasonable delay in remedying a safety-related recall on my vehicle. My 2023 Toyota Tundra SR5 Crew Max has been out of service at an authorized Toyota dealership (Romeoville Toyota) since June 18, 2025 due to Toyota Safety Recall 25TB06. As of today, the vehicle has remained unrepaired for 224+ days with no confirmed completion date. Despite repeated inquiries, neither the dealership nor Toyota has provided a definitive timeline for completing the recall repair. While a rental vehicle has been provided, I remain without access to my own truck and have experienced an extended loss of use far exceeding what would be considered reasonable for a safety recall remedy. A manufacturer safety recall is intended to correct a defect within a reasonable period of time. A delay exceeding seven months leaves the consumer without their vehicle and raises concerns about Toyota’s ability to timely and adequately remedy safety defects once a vehicle is removed from service. This prolonged delay undermines the purpose of a safety recall and places an unfair burden on the consumer. I am requesting that NHTSA review this matter and intervene to ensure Toyota Motor North America provides a timely and appropriate remedy, including repair completion or alternative relief. The contact owns a 2023 Toyota Tundra. The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 25V657000 (Back Over Prevention), 25V322000 (Exterior Lighting), and 25V767000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, parts to do the recall repairs were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The contact stated that while driving 55 MPH in stop-and-go traffic, the engine failed to operate as needed, and the contact was able to coast into a nearby parking lot, where the vehicle became immobile. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, but was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and confirmed and not received a report from the dealer. A case was opened with the manufacturer. The failure mileage was 34,736.

The contact owns a 2023 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that while reversing, the back-over prevention screen was inoperable, and there was no image displayed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who determined that a software update was needed. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V657000 (BACK OVER PREVENTION). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 50,000.

The engine has 13,441 miles on it and it has been consuming 4 quarts of oil in 1700 miles. The dealer sealed the engine and is performing an oil consumption test. Approximately 500 mile into the test the check engine light started flashing due to a misfire. The dealer found that the #1plug was fouled out and had to be replaced. At 1029 miles into the test the truck was idling in a parking lot for about 8 minutes when it started to misfire and stumble. After stepping on the throttle to clear out the misfire, the dash lit flashing multiple warnings including the breaking system was stuck on hindering the truck from being able to move. After several restarts and playing with the parking brake I managed to get the parking brake off. It still had the flashing check engine light on and flashing. The pre-collision light was flashing, along with the traction control light was flashing and none of the safety systems were working.

The new Tundra most of the features are controlled by the 14-inch Infotainment screen. The screen has gone completely dark and irresponsive to touch, power on/off, and hard reset by the dealership. Given that so many of the truck's safety features are controlled in this system, the vehicle is unsafe to operate. I have taken the vehicle to the dealership for service and beyond the hard reset (disconnect and reconnect the battery) which they've done, they are unable to diagnose what the problem is or how to fix it.
