The issue is a dangerous hesitation during low-speed rolling acceleration. In real-world driving, when I slow down but do not come to a full stop — such as when merging, changing lanes, entering traffic, crossing an intersection, or rolling through a turn — the gasoline engine can shut off while the truck is still moving. When I then press the accelerator to re-enter traffic or move quickly out of the way, there is a noticeable delay before meaningful propulsion is delivered.This hesitation is not a minor comfort issue. It creates a real safety risk.In a small hybrid passenger car, electric-only rolling behavior may be acceptable because the electric motor can often move the vehicle adequately on its own. But this is a full-size half-ton pickup. In my experience, the electric motor alone does not always provide sufficient immediate response for the weight and use case of the vehicle. The result is a dangerous dead zone where the driver is asking for acceleration, the vehicle is rolling, traffic conditions are changing, and the truck does not respond quickly enough.If a Toyota hybrid half-ton pickup is moving, the gasoline engine should not shut down in a way that prevents immediate acceleration when the driver presses the accelerator. This behavior has created multiple close calls for me. The most concerning scenario is a rolling slowdown followed by the need for immediate acceleration — for example, pulling into traffic, changing lanes, or clearing an intersection. In those moments, a 2–4 second delay is not merely annoying. It can be the difference between safely completing a maneuver and being exposed to a collision.

On 2022 - 2024 Toyota Tundra models, the vehicles are experiencing an issue where the fuel sensor will reset the digital and analog fuel displays back to showing a full tank without adding fuel to the tank. While driving my 2022 tundra my reverse indicator light and back up camera began flashing while approaching an intersection. I stopped at the intersection to wait for the green light for a left turn onto the highway. I shifted into park and then back into drive but reverse indicator and camera kept flashing. After completing my left turn and accelerating to approximately 40 mph I heard a loud bang and my rear wheels locked causing me to slide sideways narrowly missing other vehicles next to me. After a second the wheels started spinning normally. The reverse indicator and camera continued flashing. After slowing I turned my hazard lights on and slowly drove the vehicle directly to the Toyota dealership. I told them what happened and provided a video of the flashing light and screen. I told them that the truck was no longer safe to drive and that I was fortunate that I didn’t cause an accident. They ran diagnostics on the vehicle which had many error codes for various modules. They have cleared the codes and are requesting that I take the vehicle back. They reported that they could not replicate and no repairs were made. I don’t think the vehicle is safe to drive with the possibility of it happening again in a more dangerous location at speed or with my family in the vehicle.

While offloading my truck after getting back from vacation and with all the windows rolled down I noticed smoke coming out of the cab of my truck. Not know what it was or why smoke was coning from the inside of my truck I went to investigate and notice the top of the rear seat was melting and smoking. Absolutely no reason why that material should have started to melt and smoke. Outside temperature at the time was 64 degrees Fahrenheit. Only thing that I could think of was the light / reflection of the sun from our upstairs bedroom window. It is just a standard glass window so don't see how that would cause the material to melt, smoke and it absolutely looked like it was about to light up. I have an actual video of it smoking but website will not let me upload it.

The approximate failure mileage was 26,100.

Front end alignment is incorrect from Toyota factory. This is reflected in the service campaign 24TD01 for this vehicle. Toyota refuses to fix the problem, stating the campaign has expired. The alignment causes premature uneven wear of the tires, which is a safety problem. The 24TD01 campaign document states the dealer should complete the service prior to sale. Marietta Toyota DID NOT complete this service on my vehicle before sale.

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2022-2024 Toyota Tundra, Lexus LX, and 2024 Lexus GX vehicles equipped with a V35A engine. Debris from the manufacturing process may contaminate the engine and cause the main bearings to fail, which can result in an engine stall and loss of drive power.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will perform an inspection on the #1 main bearing using vehicle inspection software and drive data, and if necessary, replace the engine. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Consequence & remedy

Consequence: A rearview image that does not display reduces the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: Reverse light failure may reduce visibility, and not alert pedestrians and other drivers that the vehicle is backing up, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will replace both reverse light assemblies and repair the wire harnesses as necessary, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed May 23, 2026. This is a phased recall. Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Tundra and Tundra Hybrid vehicles that may be equipped with a Toyota genuine accessory tonneau cover. The tonneau cover attachment joints may come loose and allow the cover to detach.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: A tonneau cover that detaches while driving can become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Owners of the subject vehicles will be notified by first class mail to return their vehicles to a Toyota dealer. Dealer will install new hardware (bolts, spacers, washers, nuts, rubber washers and cotter pins) to the existing bracket and tonneau cover. If the tonneau cover has tears or splits at the mounting holes to the extent that new hardware cannot be installed, it will be replaced with a new tonneau cover and hardware. Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2022 Tundra and Tundra Hybrid vehicles. The flange nuts on the axle shaft sub-assemblies can loosen over time and potentially cause one or both axle shaft sub-assemblies to separate from the axle housing.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: Axle shaft separation can cause a loss of vehicle stability and brake performance, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect the rear axle assembly, tighten the axle flange nuts, and replace any damaged axle-related components if necessary, free of charge.
