BOTH THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND PASSENGER'S SIDE LOCK CONTROLS FAIL TO LOCK AND UNLOCK BOTH THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOORS. OCCASIONALLY, DEPENDING ON THE TEMPERATURE AND HUMIDITY, THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WILL LOCK AND UNLOCK. IT IS A SIMILAR PROBLEM ASSOCIATED WITH THE WINDOW/ LOCK CONTROL RECALL FOR 2007 AND 2009 TOYOTA CAMRYS. IT ALMOST SEEMS AS THOUGH THERE IS A FAULTY WIRE CONNECTION. THIS OCCURS AT ALL TIMES, NO MATTER WHETHER THE CAR IS IN MOTION OR NOT.

BOTH THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW AND FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW HAVE STOPPED WORKING ON OCCASION. PRESENTLY THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW MAY GO DOWN, BUT WILL NOT GO UP. THE NEXT DAY IT MAY GO UP. I DON'T PUT IT DOWN BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO LEAVE IT DOWN IN RAIN OR OVERNIGHT. MY PREVIOUS CAMRY ALSO HAD ELECTRICAL WINDOW PROBLEMS.

MY CAR WAS BURNING MORE THAN 5 QUARTS IN LESS THAN 3K MILES BUT AFTER LONG TIME FINALLY TOYOTA HAS FIXED THE ISSUE. BUT THIS WAS HAPPENING FOR ME FROM 45K MILES ON MY CAR AROUND 2009 UNTIL NOW. MEAN WHILE SINCE THE ENGINE WAS BURNING WHICH CAUSED MY CATALYTIC CONVERTER TO BLOW OFF. THEY SHOULD REPLACE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER TOO BECAUSE THIS IS CAUSED BY THE ENGINE OIL BURNING IN THE COMBUSTION CAMBER. FEW YEARS BACK THEY FIXED MY POWER WINDOW ON THE DRIVER SIDE BUT LAST 12- 18 MONTHS I AM EXPERIENCING AN ISSUE SOME TIMES THE WINDOW OPENS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE BUT MOST OF THE TIME PASSENGER WOULD TRY TO OPEN BUT IT WONT OPEN. I BELIEVE ITS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE WHICH MAY HAVE HAPPENED AFTER THEY FIXED ON THE DRIVER SIDE. IF ANY ACCIDENT HAPPENS THEN THE PASSENGER WONT BE ABLE TO GET OUT WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS ITS AN SAFETY ISSUE.

I WAS TOLD BY THE MECHANIC IT IS MADE FROM EITHER A PEANUT OIL OR SIMILAR INGREDIENT THAT ATTRACTS RODENTS. HE ALSO WENT ON TO SAY THAT THE WIRING COVERING CAUSES ISSUES ON MANY OF THE TOYOTA'S DUE TO RODENTS EATING THE WIRING AND IS IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. MY CAR WAS SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY PRIOR TO ANY ISSUES AND THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START. THIS WILL COST $1900 TO REPAIR MY BRAND NEW CAR.

13V442000 · Air Bags; Electrical System; Equipment:appliance:air Conditioner

Oct 17, 2013

Toyota is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 Avalon, Avalon HV, Venza, Camry, and Camry HV vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the drain hose for the air conditioning condenser may become clogged causing water to accumulate at the bottom of the air conditioning condenser unit housing. The accumulated water may then leak through a seam in the housing onto the air bag control module potentially resulting in a short circuit of the module.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: A short circuit may cause the air bags to become disabled or inadvertently deploy. An inadvertent airbag deployment can increase the risk of injury or the possibility of a crash. An inoperative airbag can increase the risk of injury in a severe crash. The power steering assist could also become inoperable resulting in increased steering effort and can increase the risk of a crash at low speeds.

Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will seal the air conditioning condenser unit housing and install a protective cover on the airbag control module, free of charge. The recall began on February 5, 2014. Owners may contact Toyota at 1-800-331-4331.
