THERE IS NO REASON WHY THIS SHOULD HAVE OCCURRED WHEN THE CAR WAS LESS THAN 4 YEARS OLD. THERE WAS A RECALL IN 2014 BUT I DID NOT RECEIVE A NOTICE ABOUT ISSUES WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. MOSTLY LIKELY BECAUSE THE RECALL CAMPAIGN DID NOT INCLUDE ALL CARS THAT WERE AFFECTED.

I HAVE NOTICED EXCEESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION SINCE 2015 IS 2016 AND HAVE GONE THROUGH NUMEROUS REPAIRS ONLY TO STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. THE LATEST ESTIMATE IS FOR AN ENGINE REPLACEMENT BECAUSE AFTER ALL OF THIS TIME ONE GUY ACTUALLY NOTICED THAT THE OIL WAS LITERALLY BURNING UP RIGHT AFTER HE CHANGED THE OIL. I HAVE BEEN STRANDED ON THE INTERSTATE AT NIGHT WITH A TODDLER FOR HOURS, AS WELL AS NOT BEING ABLE TO START THE CAR AT TIMES. I HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED MY CAR RANDOMLY SHAKING AND SMOKING IN TRAFFIC, AFTER WHICH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON. MY CAR HAS BEEN STATIONARY FOR WEEKS AT A TIME, MOST RECENTLY THIS PAST WEEK AFTER I WAS UNABLE TO FIND OUT WHO COULD FIX IT AND NOT KEEP RIPPING ME OFF. TO FIND OUT THERE WAS KNOWLEDGE OF THIS ISSUE BY TOYOTA AND NOTHING WAS SENT TO ME SAYS A LOT ABOUT HOW THE LIVES OF THEIR CUSTOMERS, AND/OR THEIR CUSTOMER FAMILY AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD, ARE ACTUALLY VALUED. THE NUMBER OF CAMRY'S MANUFACTURED AND SOLD TO UNKNOWINGLY TRUSTING CONSUMERS IS BOTH SHOCKING AND SCARY.

INSTRUCTIONS TO ENTER IT INTO THE CAMRY'S BLUETOOTH WERE UNSUCCESSFUL, BECAUSE, AS I FOUND OUT AFTER TAKING THE CAMRY TO TOYOTA FOR SERVICE, THE BOTTOM HALF OF THE TOUCH SCREEN NO LONGER WORKS. AS A RESULT, TO USE THE CELL PHONE IN THE CAR I HAVE TO HOLD IT IN MY HAND AND WORK THE PHONE. I WAS TOLD BY TOYOTA THAT THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THAT THEY WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS CREATES A SAFETY PROBLEM, APPARENTLY SO PREVALENT IN TOYOTAS THAT IT CAN BE GOOGLED ONLINE.

Oct 17, 2013

Toyota is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 Avalon, Avalon HV, Venza, Camry, and Camry HV vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the drain hose for the air conditioning condenser may become clogged causing water to accumulate at the bottom of the air conditioning condenser unit housing. The accumulated water may then leak through a seam in the housing onto the air bag control module potentially resulting in a short circuit of the module.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: A short circuit may cause the air bags to become disabled or inadvertently deploy. An inadvertent airbag deployment can increase the risk of injury or the possibility of a crash. An inoperative airbag can increase the risk of injury in a severe crash. The power steering assist could also become inoperable resulting in increased steering effort and can increase the risk of a crash at low speeds.

Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will seal the air conditioning condenser unit housing and install a protective cover on the airbag control module, free of charge. The recall began on February 5, 2014. Owners may contact Toyota at 1-800-331-4331.

SUMMARY: TOYOTA RECOVERED SOME FAILED IGNITION CONTROL MODULES FROM THEFIELD. INVESTIGATION SHOWED THAT A SOLDER JOINT IN THE POWER TRANSISTOROF THE MODULE WAS SUBJECT TO FAILURE. BECAUSE THE PART IS AN EMISSIONRELATED COMPONENT A VOLUNTARY EMISSIONS RECALL CAMPAIGN WAS CONDUCTED.THE PREDOMINANT MODE OF FAILURE IS AN INABILITY TO START THE ENGINE,ALTHOUGH A STALLED CONDITION CAN OCCUR WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING.SINCE THE REPORTED OCCURENCE OF ACCIDENTS AND INJURIES IS SMALL, AND THEREPAIR IS BEING CONDUCTED UNDER THE EMISSIONS RECALL CAMPAIGN, THELIKLEHOOD OF FURTHER ACCIDENTS AND INJURIES IS REMOTE.===
