I purchased this Vehicle as a Preowned Used Certified from The Toyota dealership The car has broke down 4 times for the same exact ISSUES All the lights will come on and it will say take to the dealer for Service June 8 2024 purchased the Car. November 2024 in the shop ( sensor ) December 2024 in the shop ( sensor ) NO CHARGE July 8, 2025 car had to stay overnight ( ignition coil $300 ) Service told me the Mechanical Warranty Expired in June. 8 days later July 17, 2025 Broke down on the highway I was stranded for 5 hours had to pay for a partial Tow out of miles. Its been 6 days no CAR. I DONT FEEL SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE and I Think it has a Defective System. I am locked into a Contract with a Vehicle that keeps Breaking down. I have called the Lemon Law and they said my car is too Old for a Claim but not considered NEW By 1 year. I need some Help, I have reached out to Toyota Corporate and I am waiting to see what they plan on doing. I have been STRESSED OUT SINCE MY LAST BREAKDOWN WITH THIS CAR. BY THE WAY I HAVE ONLY PUT 4000 MILES ON IT SINCE I PURCHASED IT. GOING ON A ROAD TRIP IS OUT. I NO LONGER TRUST THIS VEHICLE IT JUST CUTS OFF FOR NO REASON ONCE THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS COME ON IT JUST STOPS. I CANT IMAGINE HAVING MY GRANDBABIES IN THAT CAR ITS SCARY. Car is still in the SHOP ITS BEEN 6 DAYS NOW.
I was pulling into a parking space when the car suddenly accelerated, jumped the curb and hit a tree. The car has auto-braking but this system did not function to stop the car.

On the morning of Sept. 28, 2022, after my wife arrived home from work the previous night, and as I walked past her car, I heard the fuel pump running. The engine was not running, all switches were off and the doors were locked. I retrieved the key fob for the car, unlocked the doors, and entered the car. Upon pushing the start button, the fuel pump shut off, then the engine started. I let it run for one minute then shut the engine off. At this time the fuel pump shut off as well. To my knowledge the fuel pump has not continued to run, after the engine was shut off, since then. There have been 2 NHTSA Campaigns recalling the fuel pumps on these vehicles, # 20V01200 and # 20V68200. When I contacted the dealership where she purchased the Avalon in January 2022 the service adviser stated the fuel pump in her car was replaced Nov. 13, 2020. There may still be a problem with the Denso fuel pumps in these vehicles. If the fuel pump continues to run like this one did, and the fuel level in the tank is not high enough to properly cool the pump, it could possibly overheat and cause a fire. I would suspect this has occurred in more than just this 1 vehicle. To err on the side of safety I believe there should be another recall to replace the fuel pump. If not that, then a recall should be initiated to check the vehicle software for a programming malfunction that would cause the fuel pump to continue to run with the engine shut off.

MY VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH A LOW PRESSURE FUEL PUMP WHICH MAY STOP OPERATING IF THIS WAS TO HAPPEN THE VEHICLE WILL STALL AND NOT BE ABLE TO RESTART AND IF IT HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE WHICH I DRIVE 45 MINS ONE WAY TO WORK DAILY THEN THE CAR WILL LOCK UP AND I WONT BE ABLE TO MOVE IT AND COULD CAUSE ACCIDENTS TO WHERE THE VEHICLE COULD EXPLODE AND TOYOTA HAS NO IDEA HOW TO FIX IT AND ITS BEEN SITTING SINCE OCT 2020. I HAVE CONTACTED THEIR CORPORATE OFFICE AND THE DEALERSHIP IN WHICH NEITHER ARE WILLING TO WORK WITH ME IN REGARDS TO PAYMENTS BEING EXEMPT TILL THEY KNOW HOW TO FIX MY CAR. THEY SAID ITS EITHER I WAIT IT OUT TILL THEY KNOW OR TRADE IT IN FOR AN EQUAL TRADE. MY ISSUE HERE IS THE CAR HAS LOST EQUITY IN IT SO THE NEW LOAN WOULD PROBABLY BE UPSIDE DOWN ON THE LTV WHICH IS COSTING ME, THEY PULL MY CREDIT WHICH WOULD MAKE IT GO DOWN, DONT GET ME WRONG ITS LOAN WORTHY BUT WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO GO THRU ALL THIS RED TAPE WHEN THEY ARE THE ONES WHO CAUSED THE ISSUE BY SELLING A LEMON TO CUSTOMERS. WHY DO I HAVE TO CONTINUE TO MAKE PAYMENTS ON A CAR THAT I HAVE ONLY OWNED SINCE MAY 2020 AND HAS BEEN SITTING SINCE OCT THAT I CAN ONLY LOOK AT ...I MEAN HOW LONG DOES ONE HAVE TO PAYOUT WITHOUT GETTING ANYTHING IN RETURN? THIS CANNOT BE LEGAL FOR THEM TO CONTINUE TO CHARGE PEOPLE FOR PRODUCTS THEY CANT USE??? I LOVE THIS AVALON AND IT IS TOP OF THE LINE WITH THE EXTRAS SO I AM COMPLETELY HAPPY WITH IT BUT TOYOTA IS NOT BEING FAIR. THEY HAVE GIVEN ME THE RENTAL CAR SO I DONT LOOSE MY JOB BUT THAT IS SOMETHING THEY SHOULD DO FOR GOD SAKES. AND THAT DOESNT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO AT ALL WITH THE PAYMENTS I HAVE TO PAY ON A CAR I CAN ONLY LOOK AT FOR THE LAST 4 MONTHS...PLEASE HELP ME THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.

AFTER SEEING A NEWS REPORT ABOUT A FUEL PUMP RECALL IN TOYOTA AVALONS, I CHECKED MY VIN ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE AND, INDEED, MY VEHICLE IS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED MY SALESPERSON AT THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND ASKED HIM TO CHECK ON THE RECALL RESOLUTION. HE RESPONDED THAT THERE WAS NO REMEDY AVAILABLE YET. SINCE THE RECALL OCCURRED IN JANUARY 2020, IT IS UNACCEPTABLE THAT THERE IS NO REMEDY YET. I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED ANY DOCUMENTATION OR CORRESPONDENCE FROM TOYOTA REGARDING THIS RECALL. I AM A SENIOR CITIZEN WITH IMPAIRED HEALTH WHO LIVES ALONE. IT IS CRITICAL THAT I HAVE A SAFE VEHICLE TO DRIVE TO MY FREQUENT MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS. THAT IS WHY I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN THE FIRST PLACE. I DO HAVE TO DRIVE ON HIGHWAYS IN ORDER TO GET TO THESE APPOINTMENTS AND THIS RECALL MAKES ME VERY ANXIOUS!
