VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: CONVERSION VANS BUILT ON DODGE SHORT WHEEL BASE CHASSIS AND INCLUDES THE REMOVABLE MID-SEAT WITH THE SEAT BELT RETRACTOR MOUNTED TO THE SEAT PEDESTAL, HAVE BEEN FOUND NOT TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FMVSS NO. 207, "SEATING SYSTEMS," AND NO. 210, "SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY ANCHORAGES."
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, THE SEAT OCCUPANT MAY NOT BE PROPERLY RESTRAINED.
Remedy: TIARA HAS GONE OUT OF BUSINESS. THE CORRECTION WAS TO REPAIR THE SEATING SYSTEM.
