2022 Thor Motor Coach Magnitude

The primary issue involves the large, full-wall slide-out system on our motorhome. Since new, the front portion of the slide has shifted outward during travel, even while fully retracted. This led to the slide binding and becoming inoperable. The manufacturer attempted to fix the issue twice at their factory service center. Their most recent solution involved providing a makeshift brace—essentially a stick—intended to wedge the front of the slide in place during transit. Since then, the issue has progressed. The rear of the slide is now also moving outward during travel, causing the front brace to fall out. As a result, the front shifts again, and the slide continues to bind. This presents a serious safety risk. The slide can extend beyond the vehicle’s sidewall while in motion, increasing the chance of contact with nearby vehicles or objects. It also poses a structural integrity concern and could prevent safe egress in an emergency. There are no warning lights or error messages. The problem has been present since delivery, and has been inspected and documented by the manufacturer, but remains unresolved. The component is available for inspection upon request. This is a recurring and worsening failure affecting safety and basic function. Reports from other owners suggest this may be a broader design or manufacturing defect.

The following severe safety defects were found on the motorhome: - The passenger side wall was NOT attached on the bottom to the frame. The mounting locations are missing all mounting hardware from the factory. The wall is breaking away from the roof where it is the only location anchored. If it wasn't discovered, the whole side wall may fall off endangering the occupants and other vehicles on the road. -The front cap is pulling away from the coach due to insufficient mounting screws on both sides, which could cause the front fiberglass cap to fall off on the road, causing an accident. - All compartments on the passenger side were not attached to the frame with any hardware. This was discovered when suddenly on a trip a weird noise was heard from tailpipe. The compartment had fallen on the tailpipe and was vibrating. This could have caused a fire resulting in total loss of the RV endangering the occupants or dropping debris on the road that could have caused an accident. - The main support beam, where it connects vertically to the horizontal beam, behind the drivers seat next to the wall slide was only poorly mig welded on one side with a poor spot weld on another, not all four sides as a support beam should be. The beams over time have flexed and broken the weld. This could have caused a failure of the driver's wall, falling off along with the occupants at dinette. In an accident, the motorhome would have crushed my children and endangered other vehicles on the road. Each failure has been recorded with photos and video. The repairs can be inspected along with the detached wall. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis but refused to fix the beam failure. It was welded by a professional who could confirm the diagnosis. The cap issue is common among many vehicles and is known by most dealers and the manufacturer. The symptoms appeared when checking the vehicle on a stop when cracks in the side frame were found. The other failures were found during inspection

Screws that hold the rv body together at the corners are breaking off and /or backing out. If all these screws come out which they are known to the body could fall apart going down the highway. I’ve read forums where everyone that has submitted complaints are experiencing this problem on all Thor Motorcoach models, Omni and Magnitude. Thor is totally aware of this problem. The only way to tell this problem exists is to visually inspect the moldings that cover these screws and the molding will bulge out. bolt JPH

After driving from California to New York, I saw that screws holding the Front Cap (cab over bunk) had started to back out and delaminated the trim. If the screws continue to back out, it is possible that the entire front cap attached to the Ford Chassis could break apart from the RV and injure the passengers or people on the road. I have reported this issue to Thor and I am awaiting feedback if they are able to repair. There are also many other Thor Magnitude customers reporting this issue online.
