On July 4th I was merging into traffic onto I90W when my vehicle warning lights started flashing across the full spectrum. The gear shift show no indication of gear position and the Rv appeared to have jumped into neutral as I was accelerating and merging. The vehicle would not move forward causing full lane closure. I was flat towing a 2010 Jeep Wrangler. Law Enforcement arrived on scene and immediately had the vehicle towed due to interstate lane closure (safety issue). The Rv was towed to Rudig Jensen Ford in New Lisbon Wisconsin. Over the next couple days it was determined it was a chassis fuse box failure that caused the failure. The fuse box was replaced and we left the dealership with Jeep in tow, 8 miles down the road on I90W we were at highway speed (approximately 65 mph) and had exact same failure. Knowing what was happening, I was fortunate to be able to drift over into the emergency lane this time. Once again the Rv was towed to Rudig Jensen Ford. The Rv was diagnosed with exact same problem, fuse box failure. The fuse box is scheduled to be replaced today July 10th. When this incident happens it’s immediate loss of forward movement due to the transmission jumping into neutral. The Rv can not be moved and once turned off can not be restarted. This type of situation could be disastrous or even deadly. Entire interstate had to be shut down to have my vehicle towed.
