I NOTICED A "CLUNK" THE REAR DRIVE HUB WAS DAMAGED. THE DEALER AND AM. SUZUKI AGREED TO REPLACE THE DAMPER, BUT IDENTIFIED THE DEFECTIVE REAR HUB AS "COSEMETIC" ONLY AND REFUSED TO REPLACE IT. THE CAM CHAIN TENSIONER FAILED IN OCTOBER 1999 AT THE SAME TIME THE FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM-FUEL PUMP SCREENS CAUSED INTERMITTENT STALLS, SURGES; THE CAM CHAIN TENSIONER WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY WHILE THE FUEL DELIVERY PROBLEM HAS BEEN DENIED, FORCING ME TO USE FUEL INJECTION CLEANER. CAM CHAIN TENSIONER FAILED AGAIN OCTOBER 2000, THOUSAND OAKS SUZUKI REFUSED TO WARRANTY THE RECALL, AM. SUZUKI CLAIMS THEY WILL TRUCK IT TO VAN NUYS SUZUKI. THE FRONT FENDER CRACKED AT ABOUT 2,000 MILES, T.O. SUZUKI ORDERED NEW FENDER, BUT REFUSED TO INSTALL IT. THE SUB FRAMES HAVE BEEN BREAKING, CAUSING MANY ACCIDENTS, AM. SUZUKI CLAIM IT IS ONLY A PROBLEM IS OUTSIDE OF U.S. AND REFUSE TO WARRANTY THE SUB FRAME OR INSTALL "SAFETY" BRACES . *AK

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: MOTORCYCLES. THE SPRING IN THE CAM CHAIN TENSION ADJUSTER CAN BREAK ALLOWING THE CAM CHAIN TO JUMP TO THE WRONG POSITION ON THE CAM SHAFT SPROCKETS. IF THE CHAIN JUMPS TO THE WRONG POSITION, SEVERE ENGINE DAMAGE COULD OCCUR CAUSING SUDDEN ENGINE FAILURE.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: SUDDEN ENGINE FAILURE COULD CAUSE THE REAR WHEEL TO LOCKUP, DISTURBING THE RIDER'S ABILITY TO CONTROL THE MOTORCYCLE.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE ORIGINAL CAM CHAIN TENSION ADJUSTER WITH A REVISED CAM CHAIN TENSION ADJUSTER.
