THE POSITION LIGHTS THAT ARE LED ILLUMINATED ON THE R MODEL OF THE GSXR ARE COVERED BY PLASTIC THAT BECOMES SUSCEPTIBLE TO CRACKING AND BREAKING WITH NORMAL DRIVING WHEN THE MOTORCYCLE IS LEFT IN THE SUN DUE TO COMMON ROAD DEBRIS. WAS DRIVING AT 40-45 MPH ON A CITY STREET AFTER THE MOTORCYCLE WAS SITTING IN 90+ DEGREE HEAT ALL DAY WHEN A PEBBLE HIT THE FRONT OF THE MOTORCYCLE AND PUNCTURED THE LED POSITION/RUNNING LIGHTS. IT HAS LEFT THE ENTIRE HEADLIGHT SYSTEM SUSCEPTIBLE TO A SHORT/MALFUNCTION THAT COULD RESULT IN A FIRE. THE COVERING OR SINGLE LED IS NOT REPLACEABLE BUT INSTEAD THE ENTIRE FRONT HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY MUST BE REPLACED AT A COST OF OVER $1100. THE LED LIGHT IS ANGLED AND NOT PERPENDICULAR WITH THE ROAD TO AVOID DIRECT HIT/PUNCTURE BUT YET STILL CRACKED AND HAS AN OPEN HOLE. I HAVE OWNED MOTORCYCLES FOR OVER 5 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER HAD ANY HEADLIGHT CRACK, BREAK, OR CHIP REGARDLESS OF USE.
Suzuki Motor of America, Inc. (Suzuki) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Suzuki DL650A, DL650XA, GSX-R1000, GSX-R1000R, and 2018 GSX-S750 motorcycles. During installation, the fuel pump O-ring may have been twisted, reducing the sealing performance and possibly resulting in a fuel leak.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.
Remedy: Suzuki will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel pump O-ring and the fuel tank inner vessel, free of charge. The recall began October 31, 2018. Owners may contact Suzuki customer service at 1-800-934-0934. Suzuki's numbers for this recall are 2A86-2A88.
Suzuki Motor of America, Inc. (Suzuki) is recalling certain 2017-2018 GSX-R1000, GSX-R1000A, GSX-R1000RA, and GSX-R1000RZA motorcycles. When upshifting between first and second gear, if the rider fails to engage second gear, a neutral condition will exist and may cause very high engine RPM. If the rider then shifts into second gear without disengaging the clutch, the motorcycles chain may stretch or break.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: If the drive chain breaks, the motorcycle will lose power, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Suzuki will notify owners, and dealers will replace the Engine Control Module (ECM), and inspect and replace the drive chain and sprockets, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on January 25, 2018. Owners may contact Suzuki customer service at 1-714-572-1490. Suzuki's numbers for this recall are 2A76 to 2A81.
