CAR LIGHTS CAME ON AFTER SITTING NOT RUNNING. WENT TO START THE CAR, BUT NOT ENOUGH POWER TO START IT. BATTERY LIGHT WAS ON. THE NEXT DAY, THE BATTERY WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. I HAD TO JUMP START IT SO I COULD GO BUY A NEW BATTERY.

BATTERY DIED MANY TIMES. CAR IS JUST UNDER 3 YEARS OLD, WITH 18,000 MILES STILL UNDER WARRANTY. DEALER SAID THE CAR MUST BE LEFT THAT THEY NEEDED TO TEST. THE CCA RATING IS 300 SOMETHING. A FRIEND IN COLORADO HAS A 2019 FORESTER WITH A CCA OF 620! VERY SIMILAR ENGINE, BOTH MODELS ARE TOURING. COULD IT BE THAT VEHICLES IN LESS COLDER AREAS ARE FITTED WITH INADEQUATE BATTERY CCA SO SUBARU CAN SAVE A FEW DOLLARS? ALSO THE RAB LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. HOW IS THAT OK? THE INFOTAINMENT SCREEN HAS FROZEN MULTIPLE TIMES. WHEN IT DID THE VOLUME OF THE RADIO COULD NOT BE LOWERED..I WAS PARKED WHEN IT HAPPENED, (RADIO WAS LOUD) THEN STARTED DRIVING AND COULDN'T LOWER IT.. PLEASE NOTE: THESE ELECTRICAL ISSUES OCCURRED AT DIFFERENT TIMES ... I HAVE NO IDEA IF THEY'RE RELATED
ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS HAVE CAUSED THE BATTERY TO FAIL SEVERAL TIMES IN FOUR YEARS. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED ON JUNE 5, 2015. CAR FAILED TO START ON 9/30/16 AND THE MAIN RELAY WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER. ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS HAVE CAUSED THE BATTERY TO FAIL SEVERAL TIMES IN FOUR YEARS. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED ON JUNE 5, 2015. CAR FAILED TO START ON 9/30/16 AND THE MAIN RELAY WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED THREE TIMES BY THE DEALER: ON 12/5/16, 2/8/17, AND 1/30/19 (INCLUDING A SOFTWARE UPDATE ON 1/30/19 TO "INCREASE BATTERY LIFE.") THE LATEST BATTERY (84 MO. 490CCA) HAS FAILED RECENTLY ON THREE OCCASIONS: 9/29/20 (TWICE) AND 10/21/20, EACH REQUIRING A JUMP START. ON 9/29/20 THE CAR WAS JUMP STARTED, DRIVEN FOR TWENTY MINUTES, SAT WITH THE ENGINE OFF FOR 30 MINUTES AND DRIVEN FIVE MINUTES MORE, WAS GASSED UP (ENGINE OFF), DRIVEN FIVE MINUTES, SAT WITH THE ENGINE OFF FOR TEN MINUTES AND THEN REQUIRED ANOTHER JUMP START. THE DEALER HAS PERFORMED BATTERY PERFORMANCE TESTS (SOME FAILED, SOME PASSED) BUT TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE HAS NOT CHECKED COMPONENTS FOR FAILURE TO SHUT OFF, WHICH COULD LEAD TO BATTERY DRAIN. AS INSTRUCTED, I KEEP THE KEY FOB AWAY FROM THE CAR WHEN NOT IN USE, SO THIS APPEARS TO NOT BE A FACTOR.

BATTER IS DEAD AFTER 10 MONTHS, 7500 MILES. SEEMS AS IF THERE IS SOMETHING FAULTY WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM THAT IS PULLING POWER OFF OF THE BATTERY WHEN THE CAR IS OFF. I'VE GONE OUT TO THE CAR 5 TIMES NOW OVER THE PAST FEW MONTHS TO A DEAD BATTERY. PROGRESSIVELY IT'S GOTTEN WORSE WITH TWO OF THE TIMES BEING JUST THIS WEEK. THIS IS CONSISTENT WITH WHAT I'M READING ABOUT PREVIOUS YEAR MODELS AS WELL. SEEMS LIKE THEY HAVE AN ELECTRICAL BUG THAT THEY'RE NOT ADDRESSING YEAR OVER YEAR.
BATTERY DRAINS AND IS DEAD AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS IF NOT STARTED OR DRIVEN

WE PURCHASED A 2016 OUTBACK IN 2019 WITH RELATIVELY LOW MILEAGE AND WITHIN THE FIRST FEW MONTHS OF OWNING THE BATTERY FAILED ON US MULTIPLE TIMES AND THE CAR REQUIRED A JUMP IN ORDER TO START. THIS HAPPENED WHEN ON GROCERY TRIPS, OUTSIDE OUR HOUSE IN THE MORNING, AND EVEN MULTIPLE TIMES IN THE MIDDLE OF WINTER WHEN RETURNING TO THE AIRPORT AFTER A BUSINESS TRIP. AFTER SEEING A MECHANIC, PURCHASED A NEW BATTERY AND STILL ENCOUNTERED THE SAME ISSUE. WE SAW A SECOND MECHANIC, AND PURCHASED A NEW ALTERNATOR RECENTLY AND CONTINUE TO HAVE FREQUENT BATTERY FAILURES, SOMETIMES AS OFTEN AS ONCE PER WEEK, REQUIRING A JUMP TO START THE CAR. THIS SEEMS VERY ODD GIVEN THE NEWNESS OF THE CAR, BATTERY, AND ALTERNATOR AND WE BELIEVE THERE IS SOMETHING DEFECTIVE WITH THE CAR WIRING. THIS MONTH WE HAD AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC LOOK AT THE CAR AND HE COULD FIND NO ISSUE WITH THE BATTERY OR ALTERNATOR, HIS THOUGHT WAS IT COULD BE DUE TO FAULTY VEHICLE WIRING. WE THEN RESEARCHED AND HEARD THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR OUR MODEL / YEAR AGAINST SUBARU FOR THIS AND BELIEVE OUR VEHICLE IS IMPACTED. THIS HAPPENS VERY OFTEN, WE NOW HAVE PURCHASED A PORTABLE BATTERY PACK SO WE CAN JUMP OUR CAR AS NEEDED AND AGAIN THE ISSUE HAPPENED THIS MORNING.
BATTERY WAS REPLACED AFTER 5,549 MILES. VEHICLE WAS PARKED FOR 4-5 DAYS PRIOR TO 07/08/2020 AND NEED TO BE JUMPED DEALER COULD NOT FIND PROBLEM. VEHICLE WAS AGAIN PARKED FOR 4-5 DAYS PRIOR TO 10/09/2020 AGAIN THE BATTERY WAS DEAD & WAS UNABLE TO USE FOB TO UNLOCK CAR ETC, JUMPED STARTED CONTACTED SUBARU ABOUT PROBLEM

I JUST PURCHASED A 2020 SUBARU OUTBACK LTD AND WHILE DRIVING THE ENTIRE INFOCENTER WENT BLANK, AND ALL SAFETY FEATURES WAS DISENGAGED. THE SCREEN REMAINED BLANK FOR APPROX 10 SECONDS BEFORE REBOOTING. I CALLED SUABRU AMERICA AND WAS INFORMNED THAT THERE IS A CLITCH IN THE PROGRAM THAT THEY HAVE BEEN ATTEMPTING TO FIX UNSUCCESSFULLY. I BOUGHT THIS CAR DUE TO ITS SAFETY FEATURES. SHOULDN'T I HAVE BEEN INFORMED OF THIS POTENTIAL COMPUTER CRASH THAT AFFECTS THE SAFETY OF MYSELF AND MY PASSENGERS, WHICH INCLUDES MY 85 YEAR OLD MOTHER?
THE BATTERY IN MY 2018 SUBARU OUTBACK HAS DIED 3 TIMES IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS. THE BATTERY IN MY 2018 SUBARU OUTBACK HAS DIED 3 TIMES IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS. THE FIRST TIME I WAS PARKED CLOSE TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND AFTER JUMPING AND TESTING THE BATTERY HE DEEMED IT DEAD AND REPLACED IT. 2 MONTHS LATER, WHILE PARKED AND IDLING AS I WAITED FOR MY HUSBAND AT AN APPOINTMENT, THE CAR SHUT DOWN AND WENT DEAD. IT WOULD NOT RESTART, BUT AFTER I WAITED A FEW MINUTES IT RESTARTED. A MONTH AGO AS I WAS DRIVING ABOUT AN HOUR FROM HOME, ALL THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS WENT ON AND THE SAFETY (EYESIGHT) SYSTEM DISABLED. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY AND ALSO TOLD THEM ABOUT THE DEAD BATTERY AND ASKED THEM TO CHECK THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FOR A DRAIN. THIS MORNING (EXACTLY ONE MONTH SINCE DEALER SERVICE) THE BATTERY WAS DEAD AGAIN. AFTER JUMPING IT AND STARTING THE CAR I DISCOVERED THAT THE REAR LIFTGATE WILL NOT WORK. I HAVE TRIED FROM INSIDE THE CAR, OUTSIDE USING THE BUTTON ON THE LIFTGATE AND REMOTELY WITH THE KEY FOB, NOTHING. AFTER A A QUICK INTERNET SEARCH I SEE THAT THIS BATTERY DRAIN IS A COMMON COMPLAINT WITH THIS MODEL/YEAR AND THAT SUBARU JUST REPLACES THE BATTERY RATHER THAN ADDRESS THE UNDERLYING PROBLEM. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE, I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT WHETHER MY CAR WILL START EVERY TIME I GET IN IT.
