At 15,000 miles my battery died while on vacation (July 2019). We were far from the main road. We were lucky to see a motorist who helped us jump start the car. I replaced it with a new battery. The battery died two weeks ago at 37,000 miles. Something is draining the battery but Subaru will not acknowledge it. This defect can have serious consequences for people who get stranded in remote areas and far away from towns and population.

I bought my Subaru Outback in July 2020, it’s barely one year but I already had two major problems happened to the vehicle. 1. The transmission was broken, it’s confirmed by the dealership and they were able to replace the whole transmission system for me. But this concerns me a lot, from safety perspective, if I wasn’t able to identify the issue in early stage it could cause malfunction while I’m driving and I always have my daughters in my car. 2. It’s a barely one year car but my battery drained twice. I have to call road side assistant to jump start. I always make sure to shut all my lights and I don’t understand why this keep happening. There was one night I have to drive to the grocery store and my battery died within that 20 minutes while I’m in the store. I was waiting for road side assistant for 45 minutes while it’s getting dark and my kids are home by themselves.
I have a parasitic drain on my battery and I have replaced the battery 3 times. It seems my battery is not the issue, but I am constantly stranded on the road and the dealership just replaces the battery. I have a parasitic drain on my battery and I have replaced the battery 3 times. It seems my battery is not the issue, but I am constantly stranded on the road and the dealership just replaces the battery. This last replacement I did at a separate shop on 5/10/2021 because my battery needed to be replaced and I thought putting in a different battery would help. Today (7/21/2021), my car will not start again. This shouldn't happen with a new battery and I don't think it's right that Subaru is not doing anything about this issue. It started happening within the first 3 years I owned this vehicle, when it was under warranty. Their solution was to replace the battery and not actually fix the real issue. This is not okay. I drive this car regularly and there is no reason why my battery should die constantly.
Had to charge battery 3 times in order to start the vehicle. Took to dealer and they put in a new battery at no charge. Concerned the battery will need to be replaced in the future. Appears to be an electrical drain especially using the tailgate. Dealer said they did a hard reset whatever that means.
Battery corroded excessively so much so that when it was able to be removed the connector for the battery broke. Battery was replaced and the passenger window can't be operated from driver side, one touch driver window no longer works either.
I purchased this vehicle in May 2021 and since then have had four incidents where the battery was not able to start the vehicle. The first two incidents were when I was camping, so there was some heavy, battery only electrical system use, e.g. opening/closing the hatchback, turning on lights, etc.
The adjustment of the passenger side side view mirror has malfunctioned. The mirror can not be adjusted properly for visibility of cars to the side of the vehicle. The adjustment of the passenger side side view mirror has malfunctioned. The mirror can not be adjusted properly for visibility of cars to the side of the vehicle. Only the driver-side window is operable. All other windows fail to open from the driver side control. The passenger window will no longer operate from the passenger side either. These windows would have to be broken in order to escape the vehicle in some situations (flooding). My mechanic says that this is a common problem in 2016 Subaru Outbacks. No warning lights were activated. A mirror not able to be adjusted for optimum sighting of other vehicles is surely a safety issue.
Battery has failed repeatedly, at least 4 or 5 times over the last year. Took to dealer who checked it out and said they found no issues. Please note no lights or doors were left open that would have resulted in a batter drain. Concerned as I have been stranded due to this issue.

On 4 occasions the car battery has unexpectedly gone so low that it could not be started. On the second occasion (January 2022) the battery was replaced. On the third occasion (July 14, 2021) the battery was again replaced. On the fourth occasion (July 18, 2021) the battery was completely dead. It was necessary to use a mechanical key to enter the vehicle so that the hood could be raised. The battery has been recharged and a report will be made to the dealer for the second time tomorrow.

Subaru of America, Inc. (Subaru) is recalling certain 2009-2013 Forester vehicles, 2008-2011 Impreza vehicles, 2008-2014 WRX vehicles, 2005-2014 Legacy vehicles, 2005-2014 Outback vehicles and 2006-2008 Tribeca vehicles equipped with a mechanical key ignition switch installed as a replacement part. The ball spring inside the switch may break, reducing the strength of the ignition switch. If this occurs, the weight on the key ring and certain road conditions could cause the ignition switch to move out of the run position to the accessory position, turning off the engine.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: The engine turning off unexpectedly can increase the risk of a crash. If a crash occurs under this condition, the air bag may not deploy, increasing the risk of injury.
