DT: THE CONTACT STATES THERE IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH INADEQUATE WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION OF 2004 SS DURALINE, BUMPER PULL STOCK TRAILER. THE WEIGHT CAPACITY SUGGESTED BY THE MANUFACTURER WAS 7,000 LBS. HOWEVER, HE LOADED THE TRAILER WITH TWO HORSES, AND WENT TO A TRUCK SCALE TO WEIGH THE LOAD. THE LOAD WEIGHED AT 6,000 LBS. YET , THE TONGUE OF THE TRAILER LIFTED UPWARD AND PULLED THE BUMPER OF THE TRUCK UPRIGHT. THIS RESULTED IN A LOSS OF TRACTION ON THE REAR WHEELS OF THE VEHICLE PULLING THE TRAILER. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE THE TRAILER FISH TAILED. THIS PROBLEM RESULTED IN A CRASH. THE TRAILER TONGUE DAMAGED THE REAR OF THE TRUCK, AND THE HORSES SUSTAINED INJURIES. THE TRUCK WAS REPAIRED, AND THE TRAILER CONTINUED TO BE USED BY THE CONTACT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT OFFERED NO RESOLUTION. NO CORRECTIONS HAVE BEEN MADE TO THE STOCK TRAILER. THE CONTACT FELT THE CURRENT AXLE SPINDLE POSITION RESULTED IN AN INADEQUATE WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION. *AK UPDATED 01/19/06. *JB
