Equipment:motorcycle:helmets
Reported Dec 8, 2014 · H&H Sports Protection
Summary
H&H Sports Protection (H&H) is recalling certain VCAN V528 helmets size XL manufactured April 1, 2008, to October 9, 2014. The helmet retention systems failed during high temperature testing. Also, the required labeling may not be found on the helmets. Thus, these helmets do not meet the requirements of Federal Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 218 "Motorcycle helmets."
Consequence
Failed helmet restraints can increase the risk of serious personal injury to the occupant.
Remedy
H&H will notify affected owners, retailers and dealers, and H&H will reimburse the full purchase price for the helmets. The recall began February 20, 2015. Owners may contact H&H customer service at 1-858-680-8226 or at OP@HHsportsprotection.com.
Notes
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
