2026 Polestar Polestar 4

Intermittent false object detection from a front parking sensor. The instrument display shows a red warning bar indicating an object directly in front of the vehicle, accompanied by continuous audible beeping, when no object is present. This has been occurring for approximately 6 months, recurring randomly (not tied to a specific location, weather, or maneuver). Cleaning the sensors and bumper has not resolved the issue. I brought the vehicle to Polestar service center in Washington State in December 2025. The technician stated they were unable to diagnose or repair the issue because no error/fault code was logged in the vehicle's system at the time of inspection, despite the symptom being reported and documented as occurring repeatedly over several months. The dealer did not perform live signal/harness testing during the visit. This creates a situation where a documented, recurring false-warning safety system defect cannot be addressed through normal warranty service because the diagnostic process relies solely on stored fault codes, which this intermittent fault does not reliably generate. I am concerned this indicates a broader detection/logging gap in the parking assist system that could affect other Polestar 4 owners with similar undiagnosed intermittent faults.

I recently purchased this vehicle at McDonalds Polestar Denver. This vehicle is currently experiencing un-commanded, sudden emergency braking while reversing. The Rear Auto Brake (RAB) system frequently triggers a false positive, causing the vehicle to slam on its brakes violently as if hitting an "invisible wall" when no physical obstruction is present. Furthermore, the system consistently ignores the driver-selected override commands meant to disable this behavior. Front-line service personnel at Polestar Denver (McDonald Automotive) have informed me that "there is nothing they can do to help." They first told me Polestar should not sale these vehicles with a rear hitch for my bicycle rack and then says that this vehicle is not meant for a bike rack?? They say the vehicle is working properly and nothing is wrong! Then I am told that this is a problem created by the Federal Govt and there is nothing they can do.
