2026 Pebble Flow

COMPONENT: Rubber cover running nearly the full length of the trailer roof, protecting the solar panel wiring. The trailer carries a solar array and a 45 kWh battery system. The trailer is available for inspection on request; the cover itself was lost on the road. After towing the trailer to Lake Casitas CA on 05/22/2026, the entire roof wiring cover was missing. Given when it was found, it most likely departed while under tow at highway speed. I do not know at what point on the route it came off. I discovered it only by chance, looking down onto the trailer roof from an upstairs window of my house. The roof is not visible from ground level, so no normal walk-around inspection would reveal it. The trailer gave no indication that anything had been lost. CONFIRMED BY MANUFACTURER: Yes. I reported it to Pebble Mobility. In a written email dated 07/09/2026 Pebble listed it among open items as the "wire cover" and committed to replacing it and confirming the wiring underneath was properly protected. As of today that has not been done and the wiring remains exposed. WARNING BEFORE FAILURE: None. No warning lamp, message or symptom. SAFETY RISK: A rubber component running most of the length of the roof becoming a loose object on a highway is a hazard to following traffic. Separately, the solar wiring it was fitted to protect has been exposed to UV and weather for months on a trailer carrying a high-capacity battery system, raising a longer-term risk of insulation degradation.

I own a 2026 Pebble Flow Founders Edition travel trailer, VIN [XXX], delivered new on XXX by Pebble Mobility Inc. of [XXX]. On the delivery drive, towing the trailer from [XXX] to [XXX] on XXX, both of the trailer's wheel covers came off. I did not notice this myself. A passing motorist on [XXX] near [XXX] signaled to me that a wheel cover had departed the vehicle. At least one, and probably both, separated at highway speed in live traffic. I received no indication from the trailer that anything had come off, and I do not know where on the route the first one was lost. I reported this to the manufacturer, who opened service case XXX on XXX, three days after delivery. Pebble replaced both wheel covers and told me the replacement parts were of an improved design that had resolved the retention problem. On XXX I towed the trailer to [XXX]. This was the only other occasion on which I have towed it. The wheel covers came undone again on that trip. I discovered it on arrival at the campsite. The replacement parts represented to me as corrected had failed in the same way as the originals. I reported this to the manufacturer. In an email dated XXX, [XXX] acknowledged that the wheel covers had now come loose twice and stated an intention to determine why. As of today no root cause has been communicated to me, and the wheel covers have still not been replaced. The trailer has been towed twice and the wheel covers have separated on both occasions, including after a repair the manufacturer represented as a fix. A wheel cover leaving a trailer at highway speed is a projectile hazard to following traffic. I am filing this because the retention problem is unresolved and appears likely to affect other trailers of this model. COMPONENT: Trailer parking brake and its release circuit, including a connector in the button box on the front of the trailer. The trailer is available for inspection on request. 11/22/25 I hitched the trailer to my tow vehicle (Tesla Cybertruck), raised the jack, and released the trailer parking brake from the tablet supplied with the trailer, as the manufacturer specifies. The brake released. This produces a distinct jolt felt in both vehicles and the tablet confirmed it. As soon as the vehicles began to move, the parking brake re-applied itself with no command from me and no warning. The tow vehicle strained well beyond the load, and on stopping I found a drag mark about 7-8 feet long on the pavement where the trailer had been dragged with its brakes engaged. CAUSE: Water ingress into the button box corroded a connector, producing an intermittent electrical contact. The brake circuit treats loss of continuity as a command to apply the brakes, so the intermittent contact was read as a brake command. Salt residue was visible in the connector. I photographed it. CONFIRMED BY MANUFACTURER: Yes. Pebble Mobility opened case CASE1099 on 11/22/2025, sent a technician, inspected the trailer, replaced the affected component and improved the sealing of the enclosure. It has not recurred. The removed part should be in the manufacturer's possession. WARNING BEFORE FAILURE: None. No warning lamp, message or symptom preceded it. SAFETY RISK: I accept that trailer brakes must apply on a genuine breakaway. My concern is that this design appears to make no distinction between a real disconnection and a momentary loss of contact — no filtering or debounce that I can determine. Corrosion is only one cause. A wire cut by road debris, a chafed conductor, or a marginal connector jolted by a pothole would interrupt the circuit the same way and apply the trailer brakes at whatever speed the vehicle is traveling. Mine failed at walking pace. At 65 mph this would be far more serious.
