📄 NHTSA Norstar trailer and tire complaint Tire Safety Complaint – no safety margin I am reporting that there is no safety margin involving a Norstar Iron Bull 22’ 14K bumper pull deckover tilt trailer with (2) 7,000 lb axles and E rated Taskmaster Rambler trailer tires rated @3520 lbs each @80 psi. I have seen that the tires cannot handle the maximum payload of 9700lbs. The tires bow extremely with 9100lbs and show a safety-related defect. Tire brand: Taskmaster Tire model: [Rambler] Tire size: [st235/80R16] Load range: [E load range] DOT code: [07A B5HFT7 2225] On [05/15/2026], while loaded 9143lbs stationary the tire experienced a sudden sidewall collapse. The Taskmaster Rambler tire was properly inflated according to the manufacturer’s specifications, and I was working within the trailers rated load capacity. An obvious failure is inevitable with this setup and the trailer is unsafe to operate at any speed. Norstar is manufacturing trailers with under rated tires for their claimed payloads. Based on the nature of the failure and the fact that the tire was being used within its rated limits, I believe this may represent a potential defect. I request that NHTSA review this incident and determine whether similar failures have been reported involving this trailer manufacturer and tire line. I am submitting this report to help identify any broader safety issues that could pose a risk to other driver
