The rear window shattered without being hit by anything. We were parked in a lot and the window just shattered for no apparent reason. Window fragments are dangerous. I saw the issue online when I started to investigate if this was a one off or it happened to others. We are scheduled to visit the dealership. They indicated that they had another incident with video proof that nothing struck the rear window and it just shattered. The dealership also indicated that Nissan refused to fix it. There was no warning. Something needs to be done to cure this situation. Our vehicle is brand new - we have owned it for less than a year.

Feb 11, 2026

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2023-2025 Rogue vehicles equipped with 3-cylinder 1.5L variable compression turbo (VC-Turbo) engines. Increased temperatures can break down the engine oil, which may cause the engine bearings to seize and become damaged, leading to engine failure.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: Engine failure can cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash. A bearing failure may cause a breach in the engine block, allowing hot oil to be discharged, increasing the risk of an engine fire.

Remedy: Dealers will reprogram the engine control module (ECM) software, inspect for diagnostic trouble codes, and test drive the vehicle, free of charge. The dealer may also inspect the oil pan for metal debris, and replace the engine if necessary. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 8, 2026. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 800-647-7261. Nissan's numbers for this recall are R25E2 and R25E3. This recall expands previous NHTSA recall number 25V437.
