Monday, January 30, at 7:25pm, I was driving my 2019 Nissan Pathfinder at 55mph and the sunroof exploded. The weather was clear, 60 degrees, no precipitation. There was a loud explosion then the sound of glass rained over the roof of the car. The interior shield was closed; therefore, glass did not enter the vehicle. We pulled over immediately to inspect the vehicle. The sunroof was identified as shattered with the glass shards in an upward position. We did not have cars around us. We were on an open road, no where near an overpass. There was nothing that could have fallen or hit the sunroof. Because the glass rained over the car and the glass was positioned upward, it is clear the sunroof exploded.

It's as if the hood was made of paper or flimsy material and wants to fly off it's hinges. At times I'm fixated on it, although my attention should be on the road and watching for other drivers. The hood makes me nervous as if an accident is inevitible. I haven't taken it to be checked as of yet, but something needs to be done about this if others are experiencing this exact issue.

I have a 2019 pathfinder and since day 1 of the owner ship i ha e noticed that on a highway at high speed the hood is catching allot of air where the hood is literally flattering so to say. At one point i have mentioned it to my local nissa dealer which they checked and said the latch looks ok. It is still doing the same thing till this day. Now that i saw the recal for 2013-2016 models i wonder if newer models like mine are affected as well with that problem.

OUR RENTER STATES THAT THE VEHICLE WAS GREAT UP UNTIL THE INCIDENT. STATES THAT THEY FILLED THE VEHICLE UP WITH GAS AROUND 4PM BEFORE PARKING IT JUST OUT IN FRONT OF WHERE THEY WERE STAYING. AT 1AM THEY WERE AWOKEN BY A DISTURBANCE OUTSIDE AND SOMEONE BANGING ON THEIR DOOR TELLING THEM THEY NEEDED TO COME OUTSIDE - WHEN HE ARRIVED HE NOTICED THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED BUT IT TOOK ALMOST AN HOUR, PER RENTER, TO PUT OUT THE FLAMES AS THE VEHICLE KEPT LEAKING GASOLINE. APPARENTLY THERE IS A WITNESS TO THE BEGINNING OF THE FIRE FROM A [XXX] ([XXX]) WHO HEARD THE VEHICLE'S HORN AND OBSERVED NO ONE IN THE VEHICLE AND THEN THERE WAS AN "EXPLOSION" AS IT CAUGHT FIRE (POTENTIAL ALARM?) THE FIRE REPORT CONFIRMS THAT OUR RENTAL VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE. THEY INDICATE THAT THE FIRE WAS "MECHANICAL MALFUNCTION" AND "UNINTENTIONAL." THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND UNOCCUPIED AT THE TIME OF COMBUSTION. *** PLEASE CONTACT THE ADJUSTER WE HIRED TO ASSIST US WITH THIS MATTER. HIS NAME IS [XXX] WITH SEDGWICK CLAIMS MANAGEMENT SERVICES. PHONE: [XXX]. EMAIL: [XXX] THANK YOU. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR

LUCKY NO OTHER VEHICLES WERE AROUND US AND THE WEATHER WAS HOT WITH CLEAR SKYS. I PULLED INTO A DIVIDED PORTION OF THE INTERSTATE AND INSPECTED THE CAR AND FOUND EVERYTHING OK. STARTED DOWN THE ROAD AGAIN AND WE HEARD PIECES OF SOMETHING ROLLING OFF OUR ROOF. I INSPECTED THE REAR SUNROOF, FOUND IT OK AND THEN STARTED PULLING BACK THE FRONT COVER OF THE SUNROOF AND REALIZED THE GLASS HAS SHATTERED. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED OUR SALESMAN AT NISSAN TO REPORT THE DAMAGE AND TO SEE IF IT WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. HE SAID IT WOULD HAVE TO BE LOOKED AT AND WE COULD HAVE A LOANER TO USE IN THE MEAN TIME.

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2015-2018 Nissan Murano, 2016-2018 Nissan Maxima, and 2017-2019 Nissan Pathfinder and Infiniti QX60 vehicles. These vehicles were previously recalled and unrepaired, or inspected and determined to not need a repair, under recall number 18V-601. In addition, this recall expands the previous population. The Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) actuator pumps may allow brake fluid to leak onto an internal circuit board.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A brake fluid leak on the circuit board may result in an electrical short, increasing the risk of a fire.
Remedy: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will replace the ABS actuator, free of charge. Owners will receive a second notice when remedy parts become available, currently expected to be during summer 2020. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Note: If the ABS warning light remains illuminated for more than 10 seconds after engine start up, owners are advised to park the vehicle outdoors away from other vehicles or structures and to not drive the vehicle.
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Nissan Altima, Armada, Frontier, Kicks, Leaf, Maxima, Murano, NV, NV200, Pathfinder, Rogue, Rogue Sport, Sentra, Titan, Titan Diesel, Versa Note and Versa Sedan vehicles, as well as Infiniti Q50, Q60, QX30 and QX80 vehicles. Additionally included are 2019 Nissan GT-R and Taxi and Infiniti QX50, QX60, Q70, Q70L vehicles. The back-up camera and display settings can be adjusted such that the rear view image is no longer visible and the system will retain that setting the next time the vehicle is placed in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: The lack of an image in the back-up camera display increases the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Nissan will notify owners in phases, having dealers update the back-up camera settings software, free of charge. The recall began November 11, 2019 and all affected VINs should be activated. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669 or INFINITI customer service at 1-800-662-6200.
