THE FAILURE RECURRED SPORADICALLY BEFORE PROGRESSING TO A PERMANENT OCCURRENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD, WHICH REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 162,000.
