VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: TRANSIT BUSES OWNED BY THE NEW YORK PORT AUTHORITY. THE LEFT FRONT SUSPENSION RADIUS ROD BOLTS DID NOT PROVIDE SUFFICIENT CLAMPING OF THE RADIUS ROD PIN CAUSING THE PIN TO ROTATE IN ITS MOUNTING BLOCKS LEADING TO BOLT FAILURE.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: IF BOTH BOLTS FAILED, THE AXLE WOULD DETACH FROM THE VEHICLE INCREASING THE RISK OF LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL.
Remedy: ALL BUSES HAVE BEEN CORRECTED. NO FURTHER REMEDY IS PLANNED.
