TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MONACO COACH DYNASTY. THE CONTACT RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE NUMBER 07V311000 (STEERING:LINKAGES:TIE ROD ASSEMBLY). HE STATED THAT THE NOTICE ONLY SERVES AS AN EARLY DETECTION AND DOES NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WOULD LIKE HIS VEHICLE REPAIRED NOW BECAUSE HE IS CONCERNED THAT THE ENGINE WILL FAIL DURING HIS VACATION. AT THAT TIME, HIS VEHICLE WILL NO LONGER BE UNDER WARRANTY. THERE HAVE BEEN NO FAILURES TO DATE. THE PURCHASE DATE AND ENGINE SIZE WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 20,000.

07V311000 · Engine And Engine Cooling:engine:diesel

ON CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES BUILT WITH CUMMINS ISL CM850 DIESEL ENGINES, THE CONNECTING ROD CONTAINS A MACHINING DEFECT IN THE WRIST PIN BUSHING OF THE ROD THAT COULD CAUSE A SEIZURE OF THE PISTON PIN.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: IF ALLOWED TO PROGRESS, THIS CAN LEAD TO ENGINE FAILURE WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF THE ROD RUPTURING THE LOCK CAVITY, OIL AND DEBRIS ON THE ROADWAY AND VEHICLE CRASH.

Remedy: MONACO IS WORKING WITH CUMMINS TO RECALIBRATE THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE AND ENHANCE THE ENGINE PROTECTION SYSTEM ENABLING IT TO PROVIDE EARLY DETECTION OF THE FAILURE MODE AND AVOID MORE SERIOUS ENGINE DAMAGE AND RESULTANT SAFETY HAZARD. CUMMINS WILL ALSO INSTALL A NEW VALVE COVER WITH A CRANKCASE PRESSURE SENSOR FREE OF CHARGE (PLEASE SEE 07E033). OWNERS MAY CONTACT CUMMINS AT 800-343-7357 OR MONACO AT 1-800-685-6545.

ON CERTAIN CLASS A MOTOR HOMES, THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTORS ARE UNDER-FUSED AND THE FUSE MAY FAIL.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: IF THE FUSE FAILS, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WILL STOP FUNCTIONING WHICH WOULD RESULT IN A DECREASE OF THE VISIBILITY OF THE OPERATOR AND COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL A NEW 15 AMP AUTO RESETTING CIRCUIT BREAKER FUSE ON THE VEHICLE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON DECEMBER 15, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT MONACO AT 1-800-685-6545.
