We bought or Mazda cx 90 pre owned from a dealer so all recalls, billions etc had been taken care of. We been to notice a “sticky” steering wheel which is gradually getting worse. When taking on/off ramps on interstate we must yank steering wheel to correct direction as the wheel doesn’t move on its own. We are very concerned we will be in a serious wreck due to this. There is not a current recall or bulletin out from Mazda. We do plan to contact Mazda to have them hopefully give us a new steering column. This should be a recall for all 2014 Mazdas as this is a serious safety concern.
This was an issue included in a prior recall (NHTSA #24V022000). My car received the Mazda repair for this recall but this did not solve the problem. Steering wheel still sticks when turning. I see this as dangerous as it could cause an accident.
Steering wheel is constantly sticking and making it difficult to make certain turns. This is especially difficult on exit ramps and is a serious safety issue:

Since about 9 months ago, the steering wheel has been “pulling/tugging” when driving on a curb, even the slightest curb, specially when over 50mph. No warnings lights on, vehicle has has an alignment in the last year. And it is not a “line assist” problem. I turned that off for a while be sure. Vehicle was inspected by an authorized Mazda service provider, and they suggest changing the steering train to fix the issue. I particularly remember this issue came up after hybrid battery was replaced. Not sure if related or not. It is a huge safety issue, as when driving at high speed it is very hard to manage.

I am writing to formally report a serious safety defect regarding the steering system of my 2024 Mazda CX-90. While driving at various speeds, the steering wheel frequently exhibits a "sticking" or "binding" sensation. In several instances, the steering wheel has become momentarily stuck in a fixed position, requiring significant physical force to "break it loose" and regain control of the vehicle's direction. Safety Risk: This condition is unpredictable and creates a hazardous driving environment. The sudden resistance and the excessive effort needed to maneuver the vehicle pose a high risk of over-correction, which could lead to a lane departure or a collision. This mechanical failure compromises the fundamental ability to steer the vehicle safely. Request: I am submitting this report to ensure this issue is documented for safety investigations and to urge a review of potential defects in the steering rack or electronic power steering (EPS) calibration for this model.

Consequence & remedy
Consequence: An inaccurate fuel gauge may result in the vehicle unexpectedly running out of fuel and stalling, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will update the body control module (BCM) software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 24, 2025. Owners may contact Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500 Option 6. The manufacturer's number for this recall is 78251. The information in your report suggests that Mazda may have been aware of this issue more than five business days before filing a report with NHTSA. Mazda North American Operations (Mazda) is recalling certain 2024 CX-90 vehicles. Some steering and suspension bolts may be missing or improperly tightened, which can cause the steering intermediate shaft, the front anti-lock brake system wheel speed sensor harnesses, or the front upper control arms to detach, resulting in a loss of vehicle control.
