Our 2024 Mazda CX-90 has experienced the same significant malfunction on two separate occasions while being driven on busy public roads. The vehicle displayed an “Acceleration Limited Due to Battery Condition” warning and experienced significantly reduced/limited acceleration while driving. This put the occupants and other motorists at risk because the vehicle could not accelerate normally in traffic. A similar occurrence while merging, crossing an intersection, or traveling in heavy traffic could potentially result in a collision. The vehicle has been taken to an authorized Mazda dealership twice for the same issue and has been out of service for approximately six cumulative weeks. The vehicle is currently at the authorized Mazda dealership and is available for inspection. The dealership has been made aware of and is attempting to diagnose/repair the recurring condition. The exact component or system responsible for the failure is currently UNKNOWN. The issue recurred after the vehicle was previously returned to us following the first repair attempt. Prior to/during the failure, the vehicle displayed the warning message “Acceleration Limited Due to Battery Condition.” Any additional warning lamps, diagnostic codes, or underlying component failures are currently UNKNOWN and are being investigated by the Mazda dealership. Additionally, while our 2024 CX-90 was at the dealership, we were provided a separate 2026 Mazda CX-90 as a loaner vehicle. While that vehicle was being driven on a main public road, it suddenly lost all power. The steering wheel and pedals became locked or unresponsive, leaving the driver unable to normally control the vehicle while it was in traffic. Fortunately, a collision did not occur. The 2026 vehicle was returned to the Mazda dealership and is available for inspection. The exact cause of that failure is currently UNKNOWN. Vehicle has a history of steering rack failure (recently replaced; May 22nd 2026). During the same service visit, the authorized Mazda dealership formally documented that this vehicle is affected by Mazda Customer Satisfaction Program 14 (CSP 14) for a critical brake defect. However, the dealership returned the vehicle to me without performing the safety repair, forcing me to drive a vehicle with a known, un-repaired brake defect. This issue is directly related to the open NHTSA Query RQ26002 regarding Mazda steering and braking systems. The manufacturer has failed to cure this defect within a reasonable timeframe, posing an ongoing safety risk.

When I was parking in a CVS parking lot, the brakes failed and the car kept rolling and the brakes wouldn’t work. My car was rolling into traffic so I turned and accelerated to swerve from traffic. In doing that, the passenger side scrapped against a tree and I the brakes finally worked and I was able to start the car. I was shaking like a leaf and totally in shock. T hen I went online to see if there is a problem with the brake system. I’ve always been a little hesitant because the brakes squeaked from day 1. The car is leased and I hardly drive it so I needed a a possible causefor the malfunction.

On May 2, 2026, I took my 2024 Mazda CX‑90 to Mazda of Orange because the steering wheel was getting stuck and there was a loud chirping noise when turning the car on and off. The dealership kept my car for 28 days. When I picked it up, they told me the noise was fixed. After three days, the noise returned. The next morning, the car would not start, so I had to jump it and take it back. They said it was the brake assembly line and claimed it was safe to drive when it wasn’t. They also said the bottom battery was giving errors. I had already replaced the top battery in April 2026 for $300, and they replaced the bottom one under warranty. When I brought it in, all dashboard warning lights were on, and the car warned me not to drive over 30 mph. They replaced the battery again but could not explain the warning lights. This was my sixth visit, and they kept blaming rain or fog even when the weather was clear. Two weeks after getting the car back, all warning lights came on again on [XXX]. At [XXX], while taking my husband to the airport, I was afraid to turn the car off. I hit a bump, the lights turned off, then came back on — which makes me think there is an electrical short. Now the transmission jerks hard, especially when the i‑Stop activates. I bought the car in April 2025; it has 47,700 miles, and I have taken it in six times. [XXX] from the mediation department told me he would start a buyback on June 20, 2026, but he is now ignoring my calls. Just purchased this vehicle and find the steering to be tight, jerky, and when on the freeway and there is a connector joint where two sections of road meet the vehicle veers almost to the next lane. And when applying the brakes when exiting at freeway speed brakes shudder. The vehicle has had the recall #6524A done but the steering is still dangerous. Brake fix is supposed to be addressed soon by Mazda. Vehicle is a lemon.

When I’m driving, the steering wheel suddenly gets stuck and pulls against me with force. This is extremely dangerous, especially on the freeway or when going over a bridge — the car pulls in the opposite direction of where I’m steering. The brakes also start squealing very loudly. It feels like the steering wheel is about to lock up while I’m driving, and I’ve had to physically fight it to keep control of the car. This is a serious safety risk, and it feels like the vehicle could lose steering at any moment.

Hybrid battery failed causing electrical issues. - Fix in October 2024. During this time Service repair for the recall related to the power steering. Car became jerky and would lose the ability to hold turns. Took to mazda and told there was a gear housing need to be replaced. Was quoted at 4000 for the repair due to car having 49000. Mazda customer service stepped in and dropped the price in half. Eventually cover the majority of the cost as we reported this as a safety issue and it only camp up after the recall was performed for the power steering and the suspension was fixed. In the service report, Technician stated that the steering has fuse to the sway bar. I am now very concerned the sway bar is unsafe. Mazda did not comment on this when I ask. It appears as the fix one thing more continue to break. with The issues the lane assist continues to have issues seems to struggle with alignment issues. Car was with Mazda for 7 weeks during the 1st year of owning it. I am also concerned with some of the finding as I look at them with details pertaining to original purchase and miles being reported on our documents. Living in Kentucky the Lemon law does help with providing any sort of real action plans on CPO. Break have been squeaky causing uneven feedback. This issue has worsened over time. Car was purchased CPO - in April of 2025.

1) What component or system failed? The issue appears to involve the vehicle’s electrical system and hybrid system, as well as brake-related electronic systems. The vehicle displayed multiple warnings including “Hybrid System Malfunction” and “Critical Vehicle Malfunction.” The electronic parking brake system was also affected during the incident, including a situation where the brake could not be released while the vehicle was in motion. The affected components are available for inspection upon request. 2) How was safety put at risk? Safety was put at risk because the malfunction occurred while driving and involved critical system warnings and brake-related issues, including the inability to release the electronic parking brake. The sudden appearance of a “Critical Vehicle Malfunction” warning during operation created concern about potential loss of vehicle control and safe braking capability in traffic. 3) Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer? The issue has not been fully resolved. The vehicle previously underwent service for a high-voltage hybrid battery replacement, but the current symptoms continue to occur repeatedly. The problem has not yet been confirmed as permanently resolved by the dealer. 4) Has the vehicle been inspected by manufacturer, police, insurance, etc.? UNKNOWN 5) Were there warning lamps or symptoms before failure? Yes. Consequence & remedy
Consequence: Loss of power steering assist while driving increases the risk of a crash.
