DESIGN OF TRUCK DOES NOT OFFER HEAD SUPPORT IN TRUCK RESULTING IN NECK AND HEAD INJURIES OF DRIVER DURING VEHICLE COLLISON.
WHENEVER IT RAINS THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR STOPS WORKING. CAUSES POOR VISIBILITY FOR THE DRIVER. THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, 1ST TIME & NOTHING FOUND. THE 2ND TIME, THE MECHANIC CHANGED SWITCH. PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. *AK

WHILE DRIVING, INTERMITTENTLY, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS COME ON BY THEMSELVES. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK THE WINDSHIELD WIPER AND WASHER WILL COME ON WHILE DRIVING, CONSUMER IS CONCERNED THAT WIPERS WILL FAIL WHILE ON DURING A TIME OF NEED. *SLC

POWER STEERING PUMP FAILED SEVERAL TIMES, ONE INCIDENT CAUSED A COLLISION.
STEERING IS ERRATIC, CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL.
TRANSMISSION FLUID IS BURNING UP, AND IT TAKES A WHILE FOR THE REVERSE GEAR WILL CLICK IN. ALSO HAS HAD TRANSMISSION FLUID REPLACED 3 TIMES. *AK

MAZDA IS RECALLING MODEL YEAR 1995 THROUGH 1997 AND MODEL YEAR 2001 THROUGH 2003 TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH TEXAS INSTRUMENTS SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH (SCDS) AND/OR ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) AND MANUFACTURED ON OR BEFORE DECEMBER 5, 2002. A COMPONENT OF THE CRUISE CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH MAY DETERIORATE OVER TIME AND DEVELOP A LEAK. THIS OCCURRENCE COULD CAUSE THE SWITCH TO OVERHEAT, SMOKE OR BURN WHICH COULD RESULT IN AN UNDER HOOD FIRE.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A VEHICLE FIRE COULD OCCUR WITH OR WITHOUT THE ENGINE RUNNING.
Remedy: MAZDA WILL NOTIFY OWNERS THAT DEALERS WILL INSTALL A UNIVERSAL FUSED JUMPER HARNESS ON THE CRUISE CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON DECEMBER 11, 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT MAZDA AT 1-800-222-5500 OPTION #6.
