WHILE PULLING 40 FT LOAD TRAIL GOOSE NECK TRAILER, WITH WEIGHT OF LOAD BEING UNDER THAT OF WHICH GVW FROM LOAD TRAIL STATES TRAILER CAN CARRY, THE MAIN FRAME OF TRAILER CRACKED AND BUCKLED AT STRESS POINT. AT TIME OF INCIDENT, DRIVER PULLED OVER TO REST AREA TO CHECK ON LOAD AND TRAILER AND FOUND A LARGE CRACK IN FRAME, THE CRACK STARTED FROM A HOLE THAT WAS PLACED IN THE MAIN FRAME BY MANUFACTURE SO A WIRING HARNESS COULD GO THRU TO OPPOSITE SIDE OF TRAILER. LOAD TRAIL WAS NOTIFIED AND WE WERE ASKED TO BRING THE TRAILER BACK TO THEM SO THEY COULD MAKE REPAIR. WHILE STILL AT LOAD TRAIL AND AFTER REPAIR WAS MADE NOTICED THAT THE GOOSE NECK OF THE TRAILER HAD BEEN COMPROMISED BY THE STRESS OF THE CRACK IN THE FRAME. LOAD TRAIL REPLACED THE GOOSE NECK AT MY EXPENSE, SINCE THEN THE FRAME HAS CRACKED TWO ADDITIONAL TIMES AND LOAD TRAIL HAS REPAIRED AGAIN BY WELDING A PATCH OVER THE CRACK WHICH KEEPS FAILING. SINCE THIS HAS HAPPENED LOAD TRAIL HAS REDESIGNED THIS TRAILER PER THEIR CEO, BY NOT PUNCHING HOLE INTO MAIN FRAME OF TRAILER AND REINFORCING GOOSE NECK WITH T STYLE WING WELDED TO FRAME OF TRAILER FOR SUPPORT AT DECK. 3RD TIME FRAME HAS BROKEN AND MANUFACTURE KEEPS PATCHING THE FRAME AND CALLS IT AN INDUSTRY STANDARD REPAIR. TRAILER IS A TOTAL LOSS AT THIS POINT AND MANUFACTURE SAYS THEY CAN ONLY GIVE A $4,000.00 DISCOUNT TO THE PURCHASE OF ANOTHER TRAILER FROM THEM. THIS STRUCTURAL DEFECT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND A MANUFACTURES DEFECT ACCORDING TO THE CEO AND HIS MANAGEMENT TEAM. I AM NOW LEFT WITHOUT A TRAILER (SINCE THEY KEPT THE TRAILER FOR THEIR REVIEW), WITHOUT THE ORIGINAL PURCHASE AMOUNT, STUCK WITH OVER 3 MONTHS LOSS IN REVENUE FROM BEING DOWN AND TRAILER BEING AT LOAD TRAIL FACILITY. I AM ALSO STUCK WITH PAYING LOAD TRAIL FOR WARRANTY WORK THEY SHOULD HAVE COVERED AND LOSS OF TRAVEL COST. LOAD TRAIL UNWILLING TO GIVE ME THEIR INSURANCE TO FILE CLAIM. *TR

Official recalls

Apr 9, 2013

Load Trail LLC (Load Trail) is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Load Max HD Goosenecks trailers manufactured October 21, 2011, through May 9, 2012. These vehicles are equipped with Carlisle hydraulic brake actuators. One of the rotating components in the hydraulic pump missed a heat treat operation causing the actuator to wear at a higher than normal rate. As a result, the hydraulic pump could fail and result in a loss of braking ability in the trailer.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: Loss of braking ability can lead to loss of control of the trailer, increasing the risk of a crash, serious injuries, or property damage.

Remedy: Load Trail will notify owners, and dealers will replace the hydraulic pumps free of charge. The recall began on April 18, 2013. Owners may contact Load Trail at 1-903-783-3900.
