Several problems have occurred, not sure if they are related or not. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. In my opinion as a retired mechanic the problem components might include transmission, torque converter, accelerator or any electrical components associated with these systems. There were no warning lamps or messages related to the situation before or since. The following are my descriptions of the two issues: 1) In every day around town driving, mostly at lower speeds or after coasting, the transmission jerks, stutters and chugs. The sensation feels exactly like driving with a manual trans and trying to start from a stop in third gear. Related or not, it also seems to have a rough and jerky downshift as the vehicle slows down to stop. It happens EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE CAR, not just occasionally. 2) On a few other occasions, I stepped on the accelerator and got no response. One time I was at highway speed, let off to coast in traffic and got no response when I went to accelerate again. It felt like the transmission slipped into neutral or the ECM got no signal from the accelerator. I let off the accelerator and stepped on it again and it did accelerate the second time. In another situation, I was on a four-lane road attempting to turn left across two lanes of oncoming traffic. I was in a left turn lane on a green light, stopped and waiting for traffic to clear before starting to make my turn. As I let off the brake and started rolling to make my turn, an oncoming car changed lanes causing me to let off the gas momentarily. I was now into an oncoming traffic lane and when I went to accelerate the car did nothing. In fear of a head on collision I started to panic and stepped on the gas again with no response and then on a second attempt it did accelerate and I safely made my turn with horns blowing at me from the other car. That situation scared me half to death. Wickstrom Lincoln and Napleton Lincoln in Illinois have been unable to resolve.

The contact owns a 2022 Lincoln Corsair. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle experienced severe, erratic shifting in all gears, transmission slippage, and hesitation. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was initially taken to an independent mechanic, where a transmission replacement was recommended. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer, where excessive metal debris was found inside the transmission, and it was determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and denied financial assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.

At around 125,000, my car developed a shudder at switching gears. Ford has previously identified a problem with my car, which was manufactured before XXX, and purchased on or around XXX. They have since sent out a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB25-2154). No diagnostic codes are identified for the car, but since my car's extended warranty expired at 100,000 miles, I have a potentially dangerous car, where the torque converter may explode within the transmission and cause catastrophic failure. I drive XXX daily between [XXX], and [XXX], which is one of the most dangerous sections of the road. This problem is on top of 3 recalls for the rear camera. The contact stated that while his wife was driving in reverse(R) the rearview camera would display a black screen and the alarm failed to function as intended. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, the rearview camera would display a distorted image while the vehicle was in reverse(R). The contact stated that the failure had obstructed the driver's visibility, which prevented the driver from safely operating the vehicle. Due to the failure, the contact's wife hit an unknown object. The contact stated that no injuries were reported. No police report was filed. The contact stated that the back light broke and the rear bumper was pushed inward. The vehicle was taken to a collision center. The vehicle was not repaired due to cost. The local dealer was not contacted. Consequence & remedy
Consequence: Windshield wipers that fail to operate properly can reduce visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the front wiper motors as necessary, free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed April 2, 2026. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2020-2022 Escape, Lincoln Corsair, 2020-2024 Lincoln Aviator, and Explorer vehicles. The image on the center display may flip or invert, resulting in an incorrectly displayed rearview image when the vehicle is placed in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: An incorrectly displayed rearview image can reduce the driver’s view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will update the accessory protocol interface module (APIM) software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 23, 2026. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2016-2019 Lincoln MKC, 2016-2023 Explorer, 2019-2020 Fusion, 2019-2024 Ranger, 2020-2022 Lincoln Corsair, Escape, 2021-2024 Bronco, Bronco Sport, and 2022-2024 Maverick vehicles. The engine block heater may crack and develop a coolant leak, causing it to short circuit when the block heater is plugged in.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: An electrical short circuit can increase the risk of a fire.
Remedy: Owners are advised not to plug in their block heater until the vehicle is remedied. Dealers will replace the block heater, free of charge. Owners will also have a alternative option to replace engine block heater element with a threaded blanking plug, and remove the block heater electrical cord. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed December 3, 2025. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated September 2026. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2020-2024 Ford Escape, and 2021-2024 Lincoln Corsair vehicles. A manufacturing defect in one or more of the high voltage battery cells may result in an internal short circuit and battery failure.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: Battery failure can cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash. Battery failure can also increase the risk of a fire.
Remedy: Owners are advised not to charge battery till the remedy has been completed. Dealers will perform a battery energy control module (BECM) software update, and replace the high voltage battery pack, as necessary, free of charge. If a connecting rod bearing failure is detected, dealers will replace the engine long-block. All inspections and repairs will be performed free of charge. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2020-2022 Escape, 2021-2022 Lincoln Corsair, and 2022 Maverick vehicles equipped with 2.5L HEV or PHEV engines. In the event of an engine failure, engine oil and fuel vapor may be released into the engine compartment and accumulate near ignition sources such as hot engine or exhaust components, possibly resulting in an engine compartment fire.
Consequence: An engine compartment fire increases the risk of injury.
