This is a recurring failure; the original factory entertainment screen suffered a total blackout defect and was replaced under manufacturer warranty, but the replacement OEM unit suffered an identical total failure just seven months later. The vehicle and the defective infotainment assembly are fully available for inspection upon request. Safety Risks Imposed Safety is actively compromised because the total failure of the entertainment screen completely disables the backup camera and the 360-degree surround-view safety monitors. When reversing, the driver is left with a dead screen, creating an immediate blind-spot hazard and significantly increasing the risk of a pedestrian backup collision or property impact. Furthermore, the blackout prevents the driver from adjusting critical cabin climate controls, defrosters, and hands-free Bluetooth communication systems, causing severe driver distraction while trying to operate the vehicle. Reproduction & Diagnosis The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by an authorized Kia dealership service center. The initial failure was verified by dealer technicians, resulting in a full warranty replacement. The current identical failure has been documented as a reoccurring, unresolvable defect with the OEM hardware. Inspection Status The system has been inspected and diagnosed exclusively by the authorized Kia dealership service center technicians during the first warranty replacement. No further inspections have been performed by Kia corporate investigators, law enforcement, or insurance representatives. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 22,000. The VIN was not available.

Check lane safety system Also, My engine light is on and it’s not shifting right and I can’t drive it now. There's also a burning rubber smell. The driving speed isn't working correctly and will say I'm going 0mph when I'm going 25. When driving, it sometimes jolts.

On multiple occasions, the automatic braking has engaged while reversing even though there has been no risk of collision. It has happened with no cars, pedestrians, or other obstacles in sight. The brakes engage suddenly and with no warning causing the car to come to a violent stop. In one case it happened while reversing off a main road into our driveway. The sudden and unnecessary stop meant that the front of car was jutting into the main road with oncoming traffic. In other cases, it has just caused immediate unnecessary concern that we have hit something. It is possible to disable this functionality but the setting cannot be saved - so it needs to be disabled every time you turn on the car. We have engaged with the dealer and with KIA directly and neither have offered any solution to the problem. The suggestion seems to be that this is normal behavior for the car. From my perspective this is a defective system and is dangerous. At a minimum, it should be possible to disable it completely.
