Low Head Lights do not work. High beams and fog lights work. This seams to be a KIA problem across makes and models. Why has a recall not been issued?

The component that is failing in the Kia is the headlighs. It has been inspected by Kia of Orange Park and is determined to need replacement of left and right headlight assemblies. It is available for further inspection but Kia wants more money than I can afford to fix it, so I will be finding another mechanic soon. While traveling home with five others after dark the headlights just went out on a very dark highway. Before we could safely pull over they came back on. We proceeded to continue home and the lights randomly went completely out and back on again for the entire journey. I have not driven the Kia at night since. With the grace of God there was no accident so the police and insurance agency were not involved; only the Kia dealer thus far has inspected the kia. There is an attached report. There were no warning lights, lamps or messages, or symptoms prior to this headlight failure. This happened on Mother's Day 2023. I have no assessment of the cause, with the exception of a full diagnostic of the vehicle which I have paid Kia of Orange Park for, in full. A report is attached or available from the dealership. I am adamant that this issue is a serious, life threatening issue that left six people in terrorized silence for a shaky forty five minute ride home. I am grateful that none of the passengers or anybody in any other vehicle were hurt or injured and I will not stop until a full national recall is made on this problem.

When a Google search is conducted for "kia no brake lights it comes up with other people that have the same issue with multiple models."

There have been several times recently when both of the headlights flicker on and off while driving or while parked over the past 2 weeks. Most of the time it seems to happen when using the turn signal, but not always. Most times it has only flickered off for a second and it has happened for as long as several seconds until the driver could quickly turn the lights off and back on again for them to work. This is obviously a safety hazard when driving at night. When the lights flicker, the park lights will stay on.

When pushing the turn signal down while the vehicle is in motion to go left, it either doesn’t blink or switches to the right blinker. This nearly caused an accident the other day when a car nearly hit the back of my van with my 6 kids in it, because the left blinker wouldn’t come on and then switched to blinking right. There …

There are numerous other reports on here of similar incidents and unfortunately it looks like nothing will be done until it causes a fatality. My car is at the dealership now and I will forward the invoice if they fix it. You can go to the Kia Forum and find 34 different posts on the same issue.

AS CONSISTENTLY AS MULTIPLE TIMES EACH DAY, WHEN USING THE BLINKER FUNCTION ON MY 2015 KIA SEDONA. THE HEADLIGHTS WILL TURN OFF COMPLETELY. I HAVE TO WIGGLE THE DEVICE TO RESTORE HEADLIGHT FUNCTION. IT APPEARS TO HAVE LOOSE CONNECTIVITY OR WIRE, BUT IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE WHEN DRIVING AT DARK.

WE HAVE HAD OUR 2015 KIA SEDONA MINIVAN FOR ABOUT ALMOST 3 YEARS NOW. WE WENT IN TO OUR LOCAL KIA DEALER SINCE THE STEERING WHEEL WASN'T CENTERING CORRECTLY, SO THEY GAVE US A WHEEL ALIGNMENT. SHORTLY AFTER WE REALIZED THE ALIGNMENT DID NOT HELP AND IT WAS THE TIRES WITH THE MAIN PROBLEM. THE REASON I MENTIONED ALL OF THAT IS BECAUSE SHORTLY AFTER, OUR TURN SIGNAL STARTED ACTING STRANGELY. WHENEVER WE PUSHED IT IN EITHER DIRECTION WITH THE AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHT SETTING ON, IT AUTOMATICALLY TURNED ON THE PARKING LIGHTS (EVEN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT). SOMETIMES IT WOULD NOT DO IT WHEN YOU USED THE TURN SIGNAL, BUT WHEN YOU TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL BACK AROUND AND TURNED OFF THE TURN SIGNAL AND THE PARKING LIGHTS SYMBOL WOULD POP UP ON THE SCREEN. EVER SINCE WE GOT THE TIRES REPLACED AND THE WHEEL ALIGNMENT, OUR TURN SIGNAL SEEMED TO HAVE MUCH LESS OF A DURATION WHEN TAKING TURNS. RIGHT WHEN YOU TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL BACK TO ITS NORMAL POSITION IN THE MIDDLE OF MAKING THE TURN IT STARTS TO SHUT OFF. WE TRIED TO BE MORE GENTLE WITH THE TURN SIGNAL AND STEERING WHEEL AND IT IMPROVED A LITTLE BIT, BUT THE PARKING LIGHTS WERE STILL POPPING ON ONCE IN A WHILE. A FEW MONTHS AGO WE FINALLY DECIDED TO FULLY SHUT OFF THE AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHTS AND JUST DO IT MANUALLY. WE FEEL MORE SECURE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WITH THE AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHTS ON FOR SAFETY REASONS BUT WITH THE WHOLE PARKING LIGHT GLITCH IT DOESN'T MAKE IT ANY SAFER. ALSO TODAY WE RECENTLY TESTED THE AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHTS AGAIN. WE PARKED IT INSIDE THE GARAGE AND LOCKED IT UP CAR. WHEN WE WENT OUT TO THROW OUT THE TRASH, THE PARKING LIGHTS WERE MYSTERIOUSLY ON AND THE AUTOMATIC SWITCH WAS ON AND THE VAN WAS COMPLETELY LOCKED AND OFF.

Feb 19, 2019

Kia Motors America (Kia) is recalling certain 2015-2018 Sedona vehicles equipped with manually-adjusted front passenger seats. Over time, the Occupant Detection System (ODS) wiring harness located underneath the front passenger seat may break from the seat being occupied.

Remedy: Kia will notify owners, and dealers will remove the wire harness clip to prevent the wiring harness from breaking. If the harness is found damaged, the front passenger seat cushion will be replaced. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began March 19, 2019. Owners may contact Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542. Kia's number for this recall is SC175.
