21 reportsWHEN YOU PRESS GAS PEDAL AND CAR ACCELERATE THE GAS PEDAL GETS STUCK IT HAPPENS TO ME A COUPLE TIMES THIS MONTH I BELIEVE THE CAR NEEDS TO BE RECALL FOR THE GAS PEDAL THANK YOU
TRANSMISSION SHIFTS SLOWLY FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR AND RPMS AT 25MPH AND 45MPH ARE AR 1000 OR LESS CAUSING CAR TO VIBRATE UNDER LOAD WHEN ACCELERATING DUE TO LOW RPM
WHEN THE CAR ACCELERATE THE GAS PEDAL GETS STOCK, THIS HAPPENED TO ME TWICE ALREADY AND THREE MONTHS.
WHILE DRIVING MY HUSBANDS KIA IT PICKS UP SPEED IF GOING OVER 40 MPH IT WILL SHUT OFF AND WE GET NO POWER TO THE GAS PEDDLE IT HOLDS ALOT OF HEAT FROM THE MOTOR THE SIDE DOORS OPEN AND CLOSE WHEN THEY WANT ..BUT MY BIGGEST ISSUE IS THE GAS PEDDLE AND THE SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING.

THROTTLE/PEDAL POSITION SENSOR/SWITCH "D"/"E" VOLTAGE CORRELATION. THERE ARE OTHER CODES THAT CAME UP BEFORE AND IT ALSO CAUSED THESE ISSUES. THIS HAPPENS WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING. SOMETIMES YOU CAN TELL ITS GOING TO TURN ON THE ESC LIGHT AND ENGINE LIGHT AND GOING TO LOOSE POWER AND SOMETIMES IT HAPPENS ALL OF A SUDDEN. WHEN RESEARCHING ONLINE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, ITS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH KIA ESPECIALLY THE SEDONAS.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE WITH CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED THE VEHCILE EXPERIANCED AN UNCOMMANDED DECELERATION WITH NO RESPONSE TO PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL. WITH NO LEFT HAND MEDIUM TO PULL OVER TO, THIS LEFT ONLY THE RIGHT MEDIUM AS AN ALTERNATIVE. NAVIGATING TO THE RIGHT WITHOUT ACCELERATION MADE THIS EXTREAMLY DANGEROUS IN MIAMI TRAFFIC. ONCE ON THE MEDIUM THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, REACTIVATING THE SYSTEM. DEALER INDICATES THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR IS INTERMITTANLY DEFECTIVE CAUSING THE THROTTLE TO DEFAULT TO IDLE MODE AND DEACTIVATING THROTTLE COMMANDS. I AM OF THE OPINION THIS IS AN UNSAFE CONDITION AND THE THROTTLE SHOULD DEFAULT TO A MANUAL INPUT IF THE SENSOR BECOMES DISCREPANT. *TR

FIRST, THE AIR BAG LIGHT FOR DRIVER STAYS ON, THEN CRUISE CONTROL QUIT WORKING, NOW THE HORN QUIT WORKING. I TOOK IT TO A GARAGE AND WAS TOLD IT WAS A FAULTY CLOCK SPRING. I LOOKED UP AND SEE THAT OTHER MODELS OF KIA'S HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR FAULTY CLOCK SPRINGS; BUT NOT THE SEDONA. I BELIEVE THIS MODEL SHOULD ALSO BE RECALLED AS IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD NOT TO HAVE A WORKING AIR BAG AND HORN. I WAS TOLD BY TWO DIFFERENT GARAGES THAT IT WILL COST $350 TO REPLACE THE CLOCK SPRING. I CANNOT AFFORD TO FIX THIS SO I WILL DRIVE WITH NO HORN OR AIR BAG. IF I SHOULD BE INJURED OR DIE IN A CRASH DUE TO EITHER OF THESE ITEMS NOT WORKING I HAVE INSTRUCTED MY WIFE AND CHILDREN TO SUE KIA FOR NOT RECALLING ALL THE CLOCK SPRINGS, WHEN ITS OBVIOUS THAT MORE MODELS HAVE PROBLEMS THAN WHAT HAS BEEN RECALLED. *TR

Apr 1, 2013
Kia Motors Corporation (Kia) is recalling certain model year 2007-2010 Rondo, model year 2007-2011 Sedona, Sorento and Sportage, model year 2010-2011 Soul, model year 2008-2011 Optima, model year 2010 Forte, model year 2007-2009 Amanti, and model year 2009 Borrego vehicles. Originally, in April 2013, Kia recalled 623,658 model year 2007-2010 Rondo and Sportage, model year 2007-2011 Sorento, model year 2007 Sedona, model year 2010-2011 Soul, and model year 2011 Optima vehicles. In September 2013, Kia informed the agency that it was adding an additional 356,719 vehicles to this campaign. The total number of vehicles being recalled is now 980,377. In the affected vehicles, the stop lamp switch may malfunction. A malfunctioning stop lamp switch may cause the brake lights to not illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed or may cause an inability to deactivate the cruise control by depressing the brake pedal. Additionally, a malfunctioning stop lamp switch may also result in intermittent operation of the push-button start feature, affect the operation of the brake-transmission shift interlock feature preventing the shifter from being moved out of the PARK position and cause the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) malfunction light to illuminate.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: Failure to illuminate the stop lamps during braking or inability to disengage the cruise control could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, when the ignition is in the 'ON' position, the transmission shifter may be able to be moved out of PARK without first applying the brake. This may lead to unintentional movement of the car which may increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Kia will send an interim notification to owners in May 2013. When parts are available, owners will receive a second notification and dealers will replace the stop lamp switch, free of charge. Owners may contact Kia at 1-800-333-4542. Kia's recall campaign number is SC098.
