The contact owns a 2023 Keystone Cougar. The contact stated that while towing the RV at an undisclosed speed, the contact could see the top of the RV, which was normally impossible, prompting the contact to pull over to the shoulder of the roadway. The contact owns a 2023 Keystone Cougar. The contact stated that while towing the RV at an undisclosed speed, the contact could see the top of the RV, which was normally impossible, prompting the contact to pull over to the shoulder of the roadway. After a visual inspection, the contact became aware that the frame at the hitch had buckled, allowing the front of the RV to tilt downward. No warning lights were illuminated. The RV was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The RV was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 1,000.
