2001 KEYSTONE COUGAR RV HAD REFRIGERATORS FAILURE. CONSUMER WANTS TO KNOW WHY HIS CLAIM FOR REIMBURSEMENT WAS DENIED. *NJ THERE WAS A YELLOW DISCOLORATION AT THE BACK SIDE OF THE UNIT. THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A DENIAL LETTER WHICH STATED THE PRE-NOTIFICATION REPAIR OCCURRED EARLIER THAN AUGUST 25, 2005. *JB

THE TRAILER WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP, WHO REPLACED THE SPRING. A YEAR LATER THE DRIVER SIDE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND THAT SPRING WAS REPLACED. THEN, THE FRONT AXLE SPRINGS FRACTURED SIMULTANEOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP, AND BOTH SPRINGS WERE REPLACED. THE PROBLEM OCCURRED ANOTHER TIME ON THE DRIVER SIDE REAR LEAF ASSEMBLY, WHICH WAS THE ONLY ASSEMBLY REPAIRED WITH A FACTORY PART.

CERTAIN FIFTH WHEEL AND TRAVEL TRAILERS EQUIPPED WITH A TWO-DOOR REFRIGERATOR, MANUFACTURED BY THE DOMETIC CORPORATION, MAY HAVE A DEFECT IN CERTAIN TUBING IN THE REFRIGERATOR WHICH COULD ALLOW PRESSURIZED FLAMMABLE COOLANT SOLUTION TO BE RELEASED INTO AN AREA WHERE AN IGNITION SOURCE (GAS FLAME) IS PRESENT.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: THIS COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.

Remedy: KEYSTONE RV WILL BE WORKING WITH DOMETIC IN ORDER TO REPAIR THESE REFRIGERATORS (PLEASE SEE 06E076). DOMETIC WILL REPAIR THESE REFRIGERATORS BY INSTALLING A SECONDARY BURNER HOUSING AND THERMAL FUSES FREE OF CHARGE. DOMETIC HAS RETAINED STERICYCLE INC. TO MANAGE THIS CAMPAIGN. STERICYCLE WILL ASSIST YOU IN LOCATING DEALERSHIPS OR SERVICE CENTERS AND WILL PROVIDE ASSISTANCE WITH SCHEDULING OF APPOINTMENTS.
