The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Renegade. The contact stated that while accelerating from a red light, the vehicle suddenly shut off and stalled in the middle of the intersection. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic shop, where the contact suffered a heat-related stroke due to the high temperature. The vehicle was subsequently transferred to a licensed dealer, where technicians diagnosed a failure within the Engine Control Module (ECM/PCM), commonly referred to as the vehicle's "brain." The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000.

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Renegade. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the low oil pressure warning light illuminated. The vehicle was driven to the shoulder of the road. The contact inspected the vehicle and added approximately three quarts of oil to the engine. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The contact was informed that there was an oil leak. The contact stated that the vehicle had recently received an oil change in December 2025. The vehicle had only been driven 1,200 miles since the oil change was performed. The contact was advised to take the vehicle to the dealer for assistance. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the contact was informed that the vehicle had exceeded the mileage limitation for the extended warranty coverage. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The contact was made aware of TSB: 09-010-25; however, the vehicle was over the mileage for the extended warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 131,350.

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Renegade. The contact stated while opening the driver’s side door water was leaking from underneath the door, causing electrical issue with the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the computer was replaced; however, the failure persisted. On another occasion, while starting the vehicle, the contact smelled an abnormal odor inside the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but no cause for the issue was found. The contact also stated that the trunk would independently open. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and no cause for the failure was found. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 1,300.

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Renegade. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle overheated. The Engine Overheat message was displayed and the coolant warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and also to an independent mechanic on separate occasions, where it was diagnosed with a blown head gasket due to coolant intrusion into the cylinders. The vehicle was then towed to Jim Burke Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (1409 5th Ave N, Birmingham, AL 35203) where it was diagnosed that oil and coolant had mixed in the engine, causing damage to the radiator, engine, and thermostat. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at Jim Burke Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

18V731000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:delivery:fuel Pump

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Jeep Renegade 4X2 flex fuel/E85 vehicles equipped with a 2.4L engine. In certain operating conditions such as high power demand in conjunction with high altitude and/or high ambient temperatures, a manufacturing error in the fuel pump assembly may result in a loss of fuel pressure.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: A loss of fuel pressure can cause a stall, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel pump, free of charge. The recall began April 26, 2019. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is UB2.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2018 Jeep Renegade, Compass and Grand Cherokee, RAM 1500 and Promaster, Fiat 500x, Dodge Journey, Challenger, Charger and Durango and Chrysler 300x vehicles, 2017-2018 Jeep Wrangler, Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town and Country vehicles and 2018-2019 Jeep Cherokee and 2018 Chrysler Pacifica and Pacifica Hybrid vehicles. The powertrain control module may be equipped with a voltage regulator chip in the circuit board that may fail, causing a stall or a no start condition.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: A vehicle stall can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the powertrain control module, free of charge. The recall began October 2, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is U87.
