I BOUGHT A USED 1994 JEEP. MY HUSBAND TOOK IT TO WORK AND PROCEEDED TO BACK OUT OF OUR GARAGE WHEN THE CAR TOOK OFF BACKWARDS FULL THROTTLE IN REVERSE. THERE WERE TWO RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE, NEITHER WERE DONE BY ORIGINAL OWNER. I HAVE HAD ONE OF THE TWO DONE AND AM AWAITING PARTS FOR THE OTHER PROCEDURE. THIS IS A REAL PROBLEM AND NOT SENSATIONALISM BY THE NEWS PEOPLE. PEOPLE NEED TO FOLLOW UP ON THEIR RECALLS AND KNOW WHAT TO DO IF THIS HAPPENS TO THEM. ONCE IS TOO MUCH. *NM
WHILE PARKED AT THE CURB , THE CONSUMER WAS USING A CELL PHONE AND WITH OUT WARNING, THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED. THE CONSUMER CALLED THE DEALER, WHO INSTRUCTED HIM TO CUT THE AIR BAG FREE AND DRIVE TO THE SHOP. *AK *JB
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED WITH THE AIR CONDITIONING (A/C) ON THERE IS A CONSTANT DRIPPING OF FLUID ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE VEHICLE. WHILE THE A/C IS OFF THE DRIPPING IS MORE PROFUSE. MANUFACTURER AND THE DEALER WILL BE NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM.*AK
VEHICLE WAS PARKED/ RUNNING AND GEAR SLIPPED INTO REVERSE, CAUSING VEHICLE TO ROLL DOWN THE STREET AND HIT TWO MAILBOXES.*AK
TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING, THERE WAS A CLUTCH DEFECT AND WHILE VEHICLE WAS PUT IN REVERSE, A SQUEALING NOISE WAS HEARD. STEERING PUMP WENT OUT. *AK FRONT AND REAR BRAKES WERE REPLACED, ROTORS WERE ALSO RESURFACED. SERPENTINE BELT REPLACED. TORQUE CONVERTER REPLACED. *SLC
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED, AND THE RPMS WENT TO A HIGH POINT OF THE ENGINE. *AK
REOCCURRING PROBLEM WITH TRANSMISSION SHIFTING INTO GEAR BY ITSELF, DEALER REPLACED TRANSMISSION AT 65,000 MILES. AT APPROIMATELY 73,000 MILES OF WEAR THE SAME PROBLEM HAS REOCCURRED. DEALER REFUSED TO REPAIR BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. *AK
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WILL AUTOMATICALLY SHUT DOWN. NO STEERING CAPABILITY. DEALER CONTACTED, AND IS AWARE OFPROBLEM, A COMPUTER DEFECT. PROBLEM CANNOT BE REMEDIED AND STILL EXISTS. PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
