This model of Jeep has a documented history of having software problems that occur resulting in huge safety issues. I am filing this report because Jeep has not successfully solved this issue leading to regular ongoing safety concerns. Jeep themselves have issued several STAR reports on this, and a simple internet search will show thousands upon thousands of posts of owners with recurring issues. The specific safety concerns regarding seat positioning while moving, language change of instrumentation and critical alarms, metric changes to critical items like speed, and failure of front collision sensors. The issue begins with the driver seat changing its position while driving. While driving the seat will suddenly recline almost to a lay down position which is a safety risk. After some time fighting this, the car will eventually have a computer issue where the language changes to Italian, and cause the front collision sensors to be disabled. There is actually no issue with the sensors, it’s a software glitch that causes the sensors to be deactivated. In order to fix the issue, the car has to be taken to the dealership for several software updates and reconfiguration, resulting in cost to owners. Extended warranties do not cover software. The issue will then recur, sometimes within as little as a week, others after a few months. Researching forums, it appears this may be related to some OTA software update, but that hasn’t been confirmed as far as I can tell. This is a safety concern. Seats should not adjust on their own without driver controls being accessed, and collision sensors shouldn’t deactivate because of a software glitch.

Re: 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Summit AWD, Vin [XXX] A Known COMMON Jeep Uconnect problem identified by Jeep Case No. XXX Rev.B, Feb. 2023. Problem: with the UConnect 5 system, that on an update the language became Italian ( I wa able to change back to English) and many user controllable functions become inoperative, ie. which I cannot change the settings unless the Dealer reflashes the UConnect's User Controllabe interface. What is very concerning is the loss of Automatic Emergency Breaking (AEB), it is permanently turned "OFF" in yellow, meaning there is no fault with the AEB. I believe the loss of a major Safety System (AEB) is cause to Warrant a Safety Recall. Jeep Customer Care said I will have to pay for the reflash because I am no longer under warranty. This Case XXX Rev. B was identified when my 2022 Jeep Grand Cherrokee L was under warranty. Please Help by making this a RECALL. Randomly, and without warning, the instruments, gauges, and displays will switch into a language I do not speak or understand (Italian). Coinciding with the switch to Italian language, cluster and radio display settings revert back to default settings, auto door locks and paddle shifter becomes inoperative (with no menu to enable), pedestrian emergency brake (peb) lamp or forward collision warning (fcw) lamp turns on with no way to disable, units of measurement including speed, temperature, etc. all change, and many other random settings change as well. ***This is clearly a dangerous situation because of all the functions and gauges that change, and the fact it is difficult if not impossible to recover from this due to the language of the setting menus, and the complexity of discovering and navigating through all these changes. I have taken it to the dealer twice, and they say there is nothing they can do and to wait for a possible software update, but none has come and it has been over a year. When this happens, even if one is able to wade through all the settings menus and change setting back, some items cannot be reset (like the FCA off lamp). According to various Jeep owner forums, some dealers have been able to reset something and temporarily correct the issue, but they charge for this service, and the issue returns randomly again. Here is an example forum discussion, indicating many if not all vehicles are affected: [XXX] Many people on the forum believe this issue did not start until a software update a year or so ago. This is a well known and widespread problem, and there is even a DOT Bulletin on the issue: dot.report Bulletins Because this is dangerous (for settings/gauges/units to no longer be useful while driving), and it occurs randomly, I strongly believe this issue should be a manufacturer recall. ABS , Traction Control, Power brake booster, AEB inoperative after routine brake pads/rotor service. Vehicle was put into service mode via touch screen radio, rear brake service performed. Upon initial brake pedal application, required to exit service mode for rear brakes, to return caliper piston contact to brake pad. The vehicle disables abs and supporting system and sets codes c0050 , c2227 . As a technician my opinion is the extra brake fluid required to take up open space after service is discharged via accumulator into the brake system with no resistance or pressure due to caliper pistons expanding to the brake pads. These faults render the power brake boost abs and multiple other safety systems inoperative until a dealer level scan tool can perform abs initialization, and a hydraulic prove out test, and clear all codes, even with all code cleared power brake boost was lack just at best on initial test drive after service. A basic routine service should not affect a vehicle as adversely as this. While dealers may know what's going on your independently run shops and DIYers may return unsafe vehicles to customers/owners. This is the 3rd vehicle I have personally experienced this with. I will up load separate reports with those vins accordingly.

Upon initial brake pedal application, required to exit service mode for rear brakes, to return caliper piston contact to brake pad. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2021-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L, 2022-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE vehicles. The rear coil springs may be incorrectly installed and detach from the vehicle while driving.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: Rear coil springs that detach from the vehicle while driving increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the rear coil spring lower isolators, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, are expected to be mailed September 29, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 89D. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will become searchable on NHTSA.gov on September 9, 2026. This recall replaces NHTSA recall numbers 26V051 and 23V413. Vehicles already repaired under the previous recalls will need to have the new remedy completed.

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2021-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L and 2022-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles. The rear coil springs may be incorrectly installed and detach from the vehicle while driving.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: Rear coil springs that detach from the vehicle while driving increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect and repair the rear coil spring assembly, as necessary, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed February 12, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated in March 2026. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 20D. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on January 30, 2026. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Consequence: A rearview image that does not display reduces the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers replaced the DCSD, free of charge. All affected vehicles have been repaired. Owner notification letters were mailed February 27, 2025. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is 11C.

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2022-2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2021-2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L vehicles. An improperly secured connector for the front seat side air bags (SAB) may prevent the air bags from deploying. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 214, "Side Impact Protection."

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: An air bag that does not deploy during a crash increases the risk of injury.

Remedy: Dealers secured the connector, free of charge. All affected vehicles have been remedied. Owner notification letters were mailed December 17, 2024. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is B3B.
