JAYCO INSTALLED RESIDENTIAL CARPET DIRECTLY OVER THE UNINSULATED FLOOR IF THE FORD E-450 CUTAWAY CHASSIS. WHEN THE UNIT IS SITTING IN TRAFFIC IN HOT WEATHER THE CARPET BEGINS TO MELT AND SMOKE. THIS IS MOST ACUTE AT HIGH AMBIENT TEMPERATURE WITH THE UNIT MOVING AT SLOW SPEED OR IF THE UNIT HAS BEEN DRIVING UP A LONG GRADE AND THEN IS STOPPED AT A LIGHT OR IN TRAFFIC. JAYCO REDESIGNED THE 2015 MODEL YEAR GREYHAWKS TO PROPERLY INSULATE THE FLOOR HOWEVER THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF UNITS ENDANGERING THE PUBLIC ON THE ROAD. JAYCO DID REPLACE THE AFFECTED CARPET ON MY UNIT HOWEVER, THEY REPLACED IT WITH RESIDENTIAL FOAM RUBBER NOT CERTIFIED FOR USE IN AN AUTOMOTIVE CAB. I PAID OUT OF POCKET TO HAVE PROPER AUTOMOTIVE GRADE INSULATION PUT DOWN BEFORE THE REBOND RESIDENTIAL PAD WAS PLACED ON THE CAB FLOOR. *TR
Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling various 2002-2016 recreational vehicles equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. A list of the affected trailer models is available at: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17V746-9524.pdf. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. For a full list of the affected fire extinguisher models visit: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17E062-5427.pdf
