May 22, 1979

THE INVOLVED VEHICLES DO NOT CONFORM TO FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 121, "AIR BRAKE SYSTEMS". DUE TO THE USE OF A LOAD PROPORTIONING VALVE IN THE BRAKE SYSTEM, THE BRAKE ACTIVATION AND RELEASE TIME IN AN UNLOADED CONDITION, MAY NOT MEET THE REQUIREMENTS. IN ADDITION, A DOUBLE CHECK VALVE REQUIRED ON A TWO AIR TANK SYSTEM WAS INADVERTENTLY OMITTED.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: Not supplied

Remedy: THE LOAD PROPORTIONING VALVE WILL BE REMOVED AND THE SYSTEM WILL BE "REPLUMBED" IN ORDER TO MEET SAFETY STANDARD REQUIREMENTS.
