On XXX, at approximately 7:30–7:50 a.m., the driver was traveling northbound on the [XXX] in [XXX] during heavy rain. While the vehicle was moving, it unexpectedly began steering or correcting its direction without the driver intending it to do so. At approximately the same time, the vehicle lost acceleration and the brakes did not respond normally. The driver attempted to stabilize and regain control of the vehicle, but the vehicle continued losing speed and could not be controlled normally. This created an immediate risk of being struck from behind while traveling in the express lanes. The vehicle ultimately collided with the express-lane concrete barrier. No other vehicle was involved. The airbags did not deploy. Police responded to the crash and a police report was created. Medical evaluation was obtained at an emergency room following the incident because of pain after the collision. The vehicle was towed to a collision repair center and remains available for inspection. The insurance company has inspected the collision damage and prepared a repair estimate. The incident was reported to the manufacturer’s Consumer Affairs department. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle’s behavior was “expected” or normal and stated that the airbags may not have deployed because the impact did not meet the required threshold. However, the manufacturer has not provided a complete technical inspection report explaining the unexpected steering intervention, loss of acceleration, and abnormal braking response that occurred before the collision. The driver does not recall receiving a warning that adequately explained these problems before the vehicle became difficult to control. The exact component or electronic system responsible is currently unknown. I am requesting that NHTSA review the steering, braking, speed-control, driver-assistance, and electronic systems as a potential safety defect. Description of Issue On the date(s) above, I experienced the following problem with the vehicle: • The vehicle locked its doors spontaneously (or automatically) after I exited the vehicle. • At the time of locking, the key fob (Intelligent Key) was inside the vehicle (or believed to be inside). • The locking happened without pressing the lock button on the key fob, without the interior lock lever being used, and without the doors being manually closed by anybody else. • I did not use the exterior “touch-sensor” or handle-lock (if equipped), or if I did, I was unaware — the lock occurred unexpectedly. • As a result, the doors were locked with keys inside, and it was not possible to reopen the doors using the key fob or interior unlock controls. • I believe this event constitutes a safety hazard / defect because the vehicle’s owner manual states that locking via exterior handle-touch should be disabled when the key is detected inside the vehicle; thus the locking behavior appears to contradict the manufacturer’s design and safety intent. Impact / Consequences Describe any consequences or harm caused by the incident: I was stuck out in the cold weather with my car running and had to wait for my husband to show up to unlock the door. His app was unable to unlock the car remotely. The app kept getting messages that said that unlock failed. Any Other Relevant Information • Approximate time between exit and lock (if known): Unknown (few minutes?) • Whether the vehicle had been left running or turned off: Vehicle was running • Whether child seats or passengers were inside: No one was inside the vehicle • Whether you attempted to unlock using remote / key fob / manual key or via interior unlock controls: Attempted remotely. My phone was in the car. Requested Outcome I request that NHTSA (or the manufacturer / dealer): • Investigate this locking behavior as a potential safety defect. • Inform me (the reporter) of the investigation status.

Multiple owners report similar symptoms in 2022–2025 Infiniti QX60 models. The 2025 QX60 uses a new engine that has already been recalled in other Infiniti models due to similar issues. However, there has been no recall or official repair action issued for the 2025 QX60, even though the same engine and symptoms are present. Possible engine mount or idle control defect.

I purchased a brand-new vehicle(2025 Infiniti QX60) from Infiniti of Omaha (18201 Burt St, Elkhorn, NE 68022) and have experienced persistent issues with the vehicle shaking/swaying at higher speeds. The dealership has acknowledged the problem and raised it with Infiniti, but the manufacturer claims the issue is due to road conditions in Omaha rather than a defect with the vehicle. Infiniti corporate sent a technician and states it’s because of the roads in Omaha Nebraska. Even though the 2014 Infiniti QX60 I had for 10 years, drove on the same roads, did not have this problem. Infiniti of Omaha's service department has confirmed that my vehicle does, in fact, have issues and has attempted to fix it twice. They also indicated that similar problems are occurring with other vehicles that have the same specifications as mine. They have replaced the tires, which has helped on at slower speeds. At higher speeds, I still do not feel safe in my vehicle. Despite this, the dealership is stating they cannot assist further because it is considered a manufacturer issue. As it stands, I’m left with a $70,000 vehicle that is unsafe to drive at highway speeds, and the dealership refuses to stand behind the product they sold me. Any help you can provide would be appreciated.
