The vehicle has suffered a catastrophic failure of the hybrid drive motor rotor, transmission, and engine clutch, resulting in a $14,993 repair quote. This is a direct consequence of a failed remedy for NHTSA Recall 18V260 (Hyundai Campaign 176).In February 2020, a dealer performed an 'inspection/cap' remedy under Campaign 176. However, this did not permanently fix the manufacturing burrs on the hydraulic clutch actuator housing. Over time, the inner oil seals degraded exactly as warned in the original defect report. Hydraulic fluid leaked into the electric stepper motor, causing an electrical short circuit that destroyed the entire hybrid powertrain. The vehicle lost propulsion and threw a severe Hybrid Warning Light on the dashboard. This represents a complete failure of a mandated safety recall remedy, introducing an active electrical short circuit and a severe vehicle fire hazard.

Unable for many time to get recall complete old recall was told not complete and now that i have an issue they are telling me it was done trans clutch . My car has been at the dealer for three months . It is at lafontaine hyuandi dearborn mi. The part i need to fix my engine /clutch has an indefinite date when it will be available. I had this same problem when my car was less than a year old with the drive shaft. I have been in contact with corporate Hyundai and the dealer we cannot get a hold of sometimes for a whole week. These engine problems have been a huge issue with Hyundai. The engine will suddenly slow down to 20s being a hazard risk. Dealers when i have tried to get recall wont do recall they say they only have one person who can do it. I have had recalls scheduled months out and then they cancel. The problem i am having directly relates to a closed recall per multiple mechanics. The recall caused oil to leak which is what dealer said happened . Please help!!

I was driving on the freeway when my car started smoking. Pulled over immediately and 30 seconds later the entire front of the car was engulfed in flames. I hadn’t received a second recall notice, but I did take it in the first time when a fire risk was mentioned.

PURCHASED VEHICLE ON NOVEMBER 4TH, 2017. IT IS NOW DECEMBER 1ST, 2017. PROBLEMS SHORTLY FOLLOWED AFTER LEAVING DEALER. VEHICLE HESITATES, SHUDDERS, AND JERKS WHILE GAS ENGINE IS ENGAGED WHILE IN MOTION. ALSO, SOMETIMES ALMOST LOSES POWER WHILE IN MOTION USING THE GAS ENGINE. WHILE RUNNING IN EV MODE, NO ISSUES OR OCCURRENCES. VEHICLE NOW HAS 1822 MILES. VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THREE TIMES. NO RESOLUTION FOR PROBLEM, AS WELL AS BEING MISDIAGNOSED EACH TIME. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATES, DIAGNOSTIC MESSAGE READS "A PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED WITH YOUR ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM." AS WELL AS "MULTIPLE CONDITIONS HAVE OCCURRED WITH YOUR VEHICLE." HYUNDAI SERVICE IS AWARE THAT OTHER VEHICLES HAVE HAD SIMILAR ISSUES, RESULTING IN CYLINDER HEAD BEING REPLACED. HYUNDAI SERVICE TEAM HAS EXHAUSTED EFFORTS TO FIX MY VEHICLE WITHOUT CHANGING THE ACTUAL CYLINDER HEAD, WHICH IN TURN, LEFT ME ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. BLUE-LINK REPRESENTATIVES WERE FRIENDLY, BUT FORGETFUL OF THE TASK AT HAND. THEY HAVE REPLACED MY FUEL INJECTORS TWICE AS WELL AS OXYGEN SENSOR TWICE, EACH TIME SAYING THE PROBLEM IS "FIXED." AFTER SECOND TIME IN THE SHOP, VEHICLE NEARLY DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF A MAJOR ROADWAY WITH ME AND WOULD NOT EXCEED 35-40MPH OR ACCELERATE SAFELY. THERE ARE MULTIPLE PEOPLE ON ONLINE FORUMS COMPLAINING OF THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE SAME MISDIAGNOSING'S. (FAULTY FUEL INJECTORS AS WELL AS BAD OXYGEN SENSOR.) I JUST WANT TO DRIVE MY BRAND NEW, HYUNDAI IONIQ HYBRID, LIMITED... BUT I CANNOT DRIVE IT SAFELY OR DRIVE IT AT ALL WHEN IT IS IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENTS HANDS. HAVE HAD THESE RECURRING ISSUES 11/6/2017 - TO PRESENT 12/01/17.
