I originally bought th car from Capitol Huyndai in San Jose on September 2025 and it has 5992 miles. I towed the car to Dublin Hyundai for repair and confirmed the DTCP1A9096 for ICCU computer failing to charge the 12 v battery. It was a well known recall . I do not have any update on the repair since 8/25/26. I worry about my safety because the car can lose power while driving

The car entered a failed ICCU state (not confirmed until the car was looked at by Hyundai at the dealership) while I was driving down to Ano Nuevo regional park. Received a warning on the dash that said that electrical system has failed and to pull over. It restricted me from going over 10 mph on Highway 1 and I eventually pulled over the side of the road and got towed to the dealership. The car is home with me now but I do not feel safe driving this vehicle after all of the reports of ICCU failures. I am very concerned this will happen again and in a more dangerous situation. I was also stranded by this car in March 2026 with a dead battery.

When I started the car at 10pm , a loud pop was heard and warning lights on the dashboard indicated an electrical problem. I turned off the radio and anything extra that could use up power; during the next 45 minutes I took surface streets instead of the freeway to drive 22 miles back home and speed was limited to 40 mph. The next day the same warning lights were on the dashboard and speed was limited to 20mph; car lost power after 1 block. Car was towed to the dealer, where an ICCU failure and blown fuse in the engine was diagnosed by dealership and replaced.

For the HYUNDAI Ioniq 5 XRT, the ICCU, fuse and perhaps hybrid battery malfunctioned. We were in a disabled car on a 4 lane highway with traffic: On February 10, 2026, as we drove out of our home we heard a loud pop. As we got out onto a large 4 lane road near our house, the notice “Check Electrical System” came on and the car’s power was drastically reduced. We made a U turn and drove (20 mph) back to our driveway. We were fortunate that this was mid-day and the road was relatively clear. Normally this is an extremely busy road with traffic moving at 40-50 mph and we would have had great difficulty even pulling out to the side -- as there is only marginal side space on this road. Hyundai has confirmed to us that the ICCU and a related fuse failed. They also think the hybrid battery is also involved and they are testing to confirm that. We had no warning at all -- except for the electrical warning that came on as the car's power was reduced. The car had charged normally and had had no warning signals/signs at all.

The ICCU (Integrated charging control unit) failed, causing my car to go into "Limp mode" where it was unable to accelerate over 44 mph. This put my safety at risk as I was unable to accelerate on the freeway. The Hyundai dealer confirmed the problem and it is still there, with no estimated time for repair due to a shortage of replacement part. It was not inspected by the police or insurance. There weren't any warnings or symptoms prior to the failure. Hyundai has issued recalls for 2022-24 models for this problem but not the 2025, although it appears they have not fixed this for 2025 models.

On [XXX], the vehicle was unable to be started - no lights, no power, unable to open the doors. I called Hyundai Roadside Assist and they sent someone from AAA a few hours later who was able to "jump start" the vehicle. I took it to the dealer, Manly Hyundai, on December 17th, 2025 and they determined nothing to be wrong with either the battery or the electrical system. On [XXX], while driving from home to the local grocery store, the car presented a warning light on the dash and the “gas pedal” stopped working. I was able to coast into a parking lot at which point an even larger warning light appeared and the vehicle then lost all electricity completely. I again called Hyundai Roadside Assist and they sent someone from AAA a few hours later who determined that the car was unable to be “jump started” and would have to be towed to the local dealer, Manly Hyundai. The dealer reported back to me that the component that failed is called an “ICCU” and is some kind of controller related to the charging and motors of the electric drivetrain. It is available to be inspected at the dealer currently, Manly Hyundai. My safety was put as risk because the car became essentially inoperable while driving downhill and gave no warning signs ahead of time before the lights lit up on the dash and I lost control. The dealer has confirmed that it is an issue with the “ICCU”. The dealer has inspected the component at their service department. The first warning light that appeared came at the same instant that the vehicle lost drive power. The second warning light that appeared came at the same time that the vehicle lost all electricity entirely. There were no indications that something might be wrong with the vehicle prior to the vehicle actually producing symptoms of being undriveable.
