We have had the car for 2 months and when I went out to start it the other day I noticed a large crack in the lower 1/3 of the windshield, starting at the edge/gasket of the passengers side and spreading horizontally all the way to the drivers side. We have had the car for 2 months and when I went out to start it the other day I noticed a large crack in the lower 1/3 of the windshield, starting at the edge/gasket of the passengers side and spreading horizontally all the way to the drivers side. There is no impact mark anywhere on the windshield leading us to believe it is a defect in the glass itself or it was not bonded properly when installed. The crack is directly in the line of sight of the driver and presents a safety hazard while driving. There were no warnings or rock chips prior to the crack showing up one morning. I have reached out to the dealer but have not received a response.

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2024-2026 Elantra Hybrid vehicles. The hybrid power control unit (HPCU) assembly may overheat.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: Overheating in the HPCU increases the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Dealers will update the HPCU software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 3, 2026. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 301. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on May 16, 2026.
