WHILE RIDING ON HIGHWAY 290 IN THE CENTER LANE TRAVELING AT 58 MPH, 2003 VFR 800I WITH OUT WARNING SHUT DOWN. LOSS OF POWER. NEEDED TO COAST ON TO THE SHOULDER. FI INDICATOR LIGHT WAS ON, ALL OTHER LIGHTS, HEAD LIGHTS WERE ON. TURNED KEY OFF THEN ON. MOTORCYCLE STARTED UP AGAIN. VISUAL INSPECTION, WIRE FROM 30 AMP FUSE VERY HOT TO THE TOUCH. FUSE HOLDER SHOWS SIGNS OF OVER HEATING SLIGHT BURN MARKS. NO OTHER DEVICES INSTALLED ON THE BIKE. THE BIKE HAS 4000 MILES ON IT. SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED HAD TO PERFORM DRASTIC MEASURES TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT GETTING OFF THE HIGH WAY WHILE THE BIKE JUST DIED. *JB
