2026 Honda CR-V

While backing into the home driveway, with foot on the brake, the vehicle suddenly accelerated backward for a distance of about eight feet toward a closed gate, coming to rest just short of the gate. The vehicle could have damaged the gate as well as itself. A vehicle inspection is scheduled at the dealer from which it was purchased new. There were no warning or caution indications displayed on the instrument panel.

I am writing to formally log a product quality and safety complaint regarding my 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid.The Low-Speed Braking Control system frequently triggers severe, abrupt false-positive braking events in common driving environments, such as steep driveways, when recreational bike rack is attached and areas with minor vegetation. While the software allows the driver to disable this feature within the Driver Information Interface, the vehicle overrides driver autonomy by automatically resetting the system to "ON" every time the ignition is cycled.Forcing a driver to navigate multiple digital menus before every single trip to disable a system prone to false-positives is an ergonomic hazard. Unexpected, automated slam-braking while trying to merge or back into live traffic creates a distinct risk of a rear-end collision.Other major manufacturers (such as Toyota with PKSB) successfully balance safety compliance and driver utility by allowing user settings to persist after a restart, using a standard dashboard warning light instead.I request that Honda release a future software update to allow the Low-Speed Braking Control system configuration to remain in the user's last selected state (ON or OFF) between drive cycles. Please log this issue under my VIN in your corporate quality tracking database. This has reached a level of safety concern for me to consider trading in for a vehicle that allows safe functionality in a practical manner. This is not a feature for outdoor user on a vehicle marketed as a Sport model. Previous models of Honda had the option to switch this feature off and on as needed instead of the automatic reset during the start cycle.

On May 2nd, 2026, while driving my 2026 Honda CRV EX, which I purchased less than 3 months ago, I got a warning on my dashboard saying "Brake System Problem: Brake Performance may be reduced. See your dealer." I tried push the break but it wouldn't budge, it was as if the brakes locked. I took my foot off the accelerator and steered myself to the shoulder and pulled on the emergency brake. I kept pulling the brake up until the car stopped. I then immediately moved the gear shift from "drive" to "park". Multiple alarms came on showing system problems. The following warning lights came up: Brake system problem, electric brake system problem, TPMS system problem, Transmission system problem, Auto Idle Stop System Problem, Electric power steering system problem, Brake Hold system problem, Vehicle stability assist system problem, Hill start assist problem, Hill descent control system problem, Adaptive cruise control system problem, Lane keeping assist system problem, collision mitigation brake system problem, Road departure mitigation system problem, blind spot information system problem, Auto high-bream problem. At the time that the warnings appeared, I was about half a mile away from a signalized intersection. The brake pedal was difficult to depress and unresponsive. I lost meaning braking ability while the vehicle was in motion. Had the traffic signal at the intersection been red at the moment of failure, I would not have been able to stop the vehicle in time and a collision with cross-traffic or a vehicle stopped at the light would have been likely. After stopping, I turned off the vehicle and then turned it back on. Again all the alarms appeared, I was unable to push down on the brake pedal and the gear shift was locked. The vehicle was then towed to a Honda dealer and is awaiting diagnosis.

When driving vehicle with cruise control on and getting close to or in an intersection the vehicle will slam on brakes without driver apply them. It's happened a few times so far and the vehicle is only about 3 months old. Once While driving down VA Beach Boulevard and starting into an intersection when there was a lot of traffic so was worried a vehicle could have slammed into the back of us. And other times this would happen just before entering an intersection or while approaching an intersection.

I was driving down the road at approximately 40 MPH. My vehicle suddenly slammed on the brakes. The BRAKE warning light appeared on the dash. There was nothing around me - no cars, animals, road obstructions, etc. It really scared me and luckily no one was behind me. I have had this car for 6-ish months and it has less than 6,000 miles on it. This is the first time it has happened.

Intermittent Failure of Crash Avoidance / Collision Mitigation System The vehicle’s anti-collision/crash-avoidance system has stopped functioning intermittently and without warning. This system is intended to provide critical safety protection, and its unpredictable failure significantly increases the risk of a collision. There is no consistent pattern or driver action that explains the system disengaging, which makes the defect especially dangerous. 2. Sudden and Unexplained Sunroof Explosion While Driving While driving at normal highway speed, the sunroof glass suddenly exploded outward without any impact from debris, other vehicles, or road hazards. There was no prior warning. Glass shattered violently, creating an immediate safety emergency that could have resulted in serious injury or loss of vehicle control. This incident was extremely frightening and posed a serious risk to myself, my passengers, and other motorists. Based on my research, similar incidents involving spontaneous sunroof shattering have been reported by other drivers, suggesting a possible systemic defect rather than an isolated incident. I believe these defects represent an unreasonable risk to public safety and warrant investigation. I respectfully request that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration review this matter and take appropriate action to ensure driver and passenger safety. Sudden Unintended Acceleration (SUA) I was pulling into a parking spot in a parking structure. I was coasting into the spot and applied the brakes. Upon releasing the break and allowing the car to coast, it unintentionally lurched forward with some acceleration even though I did not press on the gas petal. This results in the car lurching forward and hitting the parking garage wall. A call to the dealer indicated there is no reported problems of this kind and there are no recalls. There were no symptoms or lights indicating a potential problem. Car is only 4.5 months old and purchased new. This was the first instance of this happening.

Date of Incident: February 6, 2026 Time: Approximately 2:30 PM On February 6, 2026, at approximately 2:30 PM, I came to a complete stop at a stop sign. As I began making a turn, the vehicle suddenly and unexpectedly accelerated without my intention to increase speed. This unexpected acceleration caused the vehicle to strike a small tree. The vehicle sustained damage to the passenger-side front area. No other vehicles or individuals were involved. I was not injured. Component/System Suspected: Possible unintended acceleration related to the engine, throttle, or electronic acceleration control system. Exact cause UNKNOWN. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Safety Risk: The sudden acceleration placed my safety at risk and could have resulted in serious injury or a more severe accident if other vehicles or pedestrians had been present. Dealer Inspection: On February 7 at 9:30 AM, my husband and I took the vehicle to Honda West, the dealership where it was purchased in December. We explained the incident and requested a safety inspection. No diagnostic or technical tests were performed. The dealer only drove the vehicle approximately 4 miles and stated that everything appeared normal. Manufacturer Contact: On February 9, I contacted Honda Customer Service and opened a safety case (Case No. 16162399). I was told I would receive a return call within 24 hours. As of February 13, after calling daily, I have not received any follow-up. I was informed again that I may receive a call on February 17. Warning Signs Prior to Incident: No warning lights, messages, or prior symptoms were present before the incident. Request: I am requesting a full technical and safety inspection to determine the cause of this incident, as I am concerned about the ongoing safety of this vehicle.
