The headlight system is critically deficient when operating the vehicle at night whenever the roads are wet, especially during active precipitation, and especially in poorly lit areas when there is oncoming traffic. The headlights cannot penetrate the water on the roadway and fail to reflect back lane markings most likely due to inferior strength and poor choice of color since White and Blue wavelengths scatter more with water on the roadway. In multiple instances I have had near miss accidents due to being unable to see clearly marked lane markers while I cannot utilize my high beams due to oncoming traffic. I can easily reproduce anytime there is active rain and am willing to let my car be inspected. I also can provide dashcam video upon request. The dealer has not confirmed the issue due to needing precipitation, poorly lit areas and the time of day being night which is after their working hours. The dealer also does not support the installation of fog lights on this model. There are no warning messages, lamps or otherwise. Others on forums such as Reddit acknowledge this is a major issue. I have never felt more unsafe operating any motor vehicle before in the conditions listed above than I am now with this low mileage 2024 CR-V.

Since purchasing over a year ago Recurring failure of the rear-view backup camera system, resulting in a black and white image, coupled with dangerous malfunctions of the integrated Rear Cross Traffic Monitor (RCTM) system. Detailed Description of Safety Hazard The backup camera image repeatedly reverts from color to black and white, making it significantly harder to distinguish critical objects like pedestrians, curbs, and other vehicles, especially in low-light conditions. Crucially, this malfunction is directly affecting the vehicle's active safety systems: 1. Failure to Detect Cross Traffic: The Rear Cross Traffic Monitor (RCTM) often fails to warn of approaching vehicles, pedestrians, or objects when backing out of a parking space. This eliminates a vital safety feature and creates a high risk of a back-over collision. 2. False Cross Traffic Warnings & Unintended Braking: The system also frequently provides false warnings for non-existent cross traffic, which can cause the vehicle to momentarily lock the brakes up (Auto-Brake) without driver input. This sudden and unintended stopping during a maneuver is unpredictable, startling, and poses a risk of creating an accident, especially if a vehicle is maneuvering behind me. The system was previously serviced, including camera replacement, but the issue returned within a few weeks. This recurring failure presents a serious and ongoing safety defect that requires immediate repair of the core system components (likely the infotainment unit or wiring harness) to restore both the image and the reliability of the safety sensors.

The 2023+ Honda CRV hybrid model have paddles on the steering wheel that increase and decrease the strength of regenerative braking. I use this feature often on our 2024 hybrid model. The issue arises when increasing the strength to the second or third (highest) level. The braking force at these levels should trigger the brake lights to illuminate, but they do not. Often I see drivers brake late behind me because my vehicle is braking with noticeable strength, but the driver behind me can’t tell. So they slow late and very close to my vehicle’s rear bumper. Honda should recall the hybrids and retrofit the brake lights to activate when regenerative braking is increased to the second or third level. Just as Tesla brake lights activate when their regen braking system works by releasing the accelerator, Honda’s should activate when turned up to the higher levels.

I have a 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid AWD Sport model. On two occasions within the past 3 months, I have attempted to start the car, but when I did so, the dashboard lights, including all the error indicators lit up and flashed, the alarm went off, and I couldn't drive the car. In both cases, I called Roadside Assistance. While waiting for the tow truck, we were able to shut off the car and alarm by putting the car into "accessory mode," (pushing the ignition button without a foot on the brake.) But when we then tried to start the car normally (pushing start button with foot on brake) the electrical light show resumed and alarm started up all over again. Both times this happened, by the time the tow truck arrived (1-2.5 hours) the car had "rebooted" so we just drove home. The first time this occurred, the Honda dealer had just performed the recall repair to the steering gear box 2 days before the first electrical failure.
Headlights are super dim, not lighting the road properly. My halogen headlights on my old 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander are much brighter than these Honda LEDs. To make matters worse, headlights are aimed a bit high. I took it to Honda service and complained and they acknowledged that the lights are aid a bit high and that they are weak, but cannot do anything about it. Honda should recall these headlights, they are a road hazard. You cannot see properly at night and if it rains and it is night, these lights might as well be off as they are completely useless. I follow CR-V Facebook Owner group and many people are complaining about these headlights.

This hybrid model does not display red brake lights during regenerative braking, at any of the settings. I have have had two occurrences where the driver behind me was apparently not aware that my vehicle was slowing somewhat rapidly, and thus nearly drive into the back of my vehicle. This hybrid model does not display red brake lights during regenerative braking, at any of the settings. I have have had two occurrences where the driver behind me was apparently not aware that my vehicle was slowing somewhat rapidly, and thus nearly drive into the back of my vehicle. One of those drivers mentioned that they did not see any brake lights even though I was slowing down, approaching an intersection. I can see how this might be a safety issue. IF Tesla can have this function on their cars software then why cannot Honda? My vehicle also has times when I am travelling on straight city streets with no traffic in front of me, where the automatic emergency braking come on quite firmly for a second or two, without any apparent reason. Again, this presents a possible safety hazard to the vehicles behind me who may be following a little closer than they should, and may possible drive in to the back of my vehicle. Again, I am not aware of any brake lights present on my vehicle when this happens. A big improvement would be in the manner in which the radar sees things and makes false applications of this braking system, as well as having teh vehicle brake lights activate when this system decides to engage.

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2023-2025 Acura Integra, Civic Type R, CR-V Hybrid, CR-V, HR-V, 2022-2025 Civic, Civic Hatchback, 2024-2025 Acura Integra Type S, 2025 CR-V Fuel Cell EV, Civic Hybrid, and Civic Hatchback Hybrid vehicles. The steering gearbox assembly may have been manufactured incorrectly, which can cause excessive internal friction and lead to difficulty steering the vehicle.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: Difficulty steering can increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the worm gear spring and redistribute or add grease as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 18, 2024. Owners may contact Honda Customer Service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are SJS, MJU, QJT and VJV.

Honda (America Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2024 CR-V vehicles. The tire identification number (TIN) is missing the four-digit date code. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 139, "New Pneumatic Radial Tires for Light Vehicles."
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: An owner whose TIN information is missing may not recognize that their vehicle is involved in a safety recall and continue to drive on recalled tires, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the tires as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 27, 2024. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is BIS.

On November 29, 2023, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened this Engineering Analysis (EA23003) to assess allegations of momentary increase in steering effort in model years (MY) 2022-2023 Honda Civic, 2023MY Honda CR-V, and 2023MY Acura Integra vehicles (subject vehicles). The complaints received by ODI alleged that the subject vehicles experienced a momentary increase in required steering effort (described as “sticky steering”) occurring mostly at highway speeds after driving for an extended amount of time; these complaints could not be duplicated during dealer service technicians’ quick test drives. The complaints had been received over the previous two years with most occurring with low vehicle mileage. The steering gear of these vehicles is aided by an electrical power assist unit. This power assist unit inputs force on the steering rack via a worm gear and worm wheel assembly. During PE23005, Honda stated this condition of momentary increase in steering effort occurs due to two factors within this power assist unit. First, during manufacturing, the steering worm wheel goes through annealing and component conditioning processes. These processes cause internal stress and strain within the steering worm wheel. This strain is slowly released over the first few months of the vehicle life. Over time, the released strain causes deformation of the teeth on the worm wheel, causing the worm gear to catch on the worm wheel. This catching results in the driver’s momentary increased steering effort. Second, the manufacturing process did not guarantee consistent grease application and, therefore, some subject vehicles received insufficient grease which contributed to the momentary increase in steering effort. During EA23003, ODI further analyzed the potential safety related consequences of the momentary increase in steering effort. NHTSA’s Vehicle Research and Test Center (VRTC) duplicated the allegations of increased steering effort. In addition, VRTC discovered the steering worm wheel and worm gear tended to push grease out of the meshing area, resulting in large amounts of grease resting on top of the worm wheel. Information Request responses collected and reviewed by ODI showed Honda had also discovered this additional root cause during NHTSA’s EA. In addition, Honda discovered the preload of the worm wheel gear spring was set too high, increasing the gear slide load and resulting in higher friction and increased torque fluctuation when steering. The number of consumer complaints made to ODI continued to increase with the expansion of scope from the PE to the EA. Additionally, during EA23003, ODI received ten complaints alleging a crash, in addition to the 13 complaints ODI had received as of the time it opened EA23003. In total, 23 crashes have been reported to ODI due to this alleged defect. On October 3, 2024, Honda filed NHTSA Recall No. 24V-744 to address this defect. The recall will provide consumers with a new steering worm wheel gear spring with a decreased load. Additionally, dealerships will add additional grease and relocate any grease sitting on top of the worm wheel back into the meshing area. The scope of this recall includes all Honda vehicles that were manufactured with this specific improperly produced steering worm wheel and spring. In view of the recall action being taken by Honda, ODI is closing EA23003. NHTSA reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by future circumstances.
