THE LOCKING SYSTEM ON MY 2009 HONDA CRV HAS NOT BEEN WORKING PROPERLY FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. THE FRONT AND BACK PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WILL LOCK AND UNLOCK BY ITSELF, THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT AND BACK WILL MAKE SQUEAKING NOISES LIKE IT IS TRYING TO LOCK AND UNLOCK AND THE BACK DOOR WILL NOT OPEN AT ALL WHETHER IT IS TURNED OFF OR RUNNING. I THOUGHT FOR SURE THAT THIS WOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL BECAUSE THE DOORS WILL LOCK AND UNLOCK BY THEMSELVES AND IT WOULD BE VERY EASY FOR A SMALL CHILD TO OPEN THE DOOR AND FALL OUT. MY HUSBAND CALLED THE HONDA DEALERSHIP AND TOLD THEM ABOUT THE ISSUE AND THEY ADMITTED THAT IT WAS A PROBLEM, HOWEVER SAID THAT IT WAS NOT CONSIDERED A SAFETY CONCERN AND RECALL HAS HAD NOT BEEN PUT IN PLACE. THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LOCK WOULD ONLY LOCK MANUALLY. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER REGARDING THE LOCKING SYSTEM AND THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL COMPONENT FOR THE LOCKING SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2007-2011 CR-V vehicles that were sold, or ever registered in Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Washington D.C., and Wisconsin. An accumulation of road salt may cause the frame to corrode and possibly detach the rear trailing arm.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A detached rear trailing arm can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and install a support brace or repair the rear frame, as necessary, free of charge. Depending on the extent of any corrosion damage, Honda may offer to repurchase the vehicle. Owner notification letters were mailed May 22, 2023. Consequence & remedy
Consequence: An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.

A BROKEN OUTER RACE MAY CAUSE ABNORMAL NOISE, THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT TO TURN ON, AND ALLOW CONTACT BETWEEN THE TRANSMISSION IDLE GEAR AND AN ELECTRONIC SENSOR HOUSING WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: THIS COULD RESULT IN A SHORT CIRCUIT CAUSING THE ENGINE TO STALL. ADDITIONALLY, BROKEN PIECES OF THE OUTER RACE OR BALL BEARING FROM THE SECONDARY SHAFT MAY BECOME LODGED IN THE PARKING PAWL RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE ROLLING AFTER THE DRIVER HAS PLACED THE GEAR SELECTOR IN THE PARK POSITION. ENGINE STALL AND UNEXPECTED VEHICLE MOVEMENT INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH OR PERSONAL INJURY TO PERSONS WITHIN THE PATH OF A ROLLING VEHICLE.
Remedy: HONDA WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND DEALERS WILL UPDATE THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 27, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA AUTOMOBILE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-999-1009.
