Driver Side mirror vibration. From Day 1 of the vehicle purchase i am seeing that the driver side mirror vibrates at higher speeds and on rough roads causing a distorted view. This is very risky to driver and unable to clearly gauge the distance of the car behind me because of the vibration. Have contact Honda and the dealership many times without any permanent resolution to this issue. Dealership has replaced the Driver side mirror twice and the issue still persists. Honda doesn't have any resolution yet. Its very risky to drive the car with this issue.

At speeds around and above 60 MPH, my 2023 CRV's steering becomes "hesitant and jerky". This is most noticeable when driving on the highway. As highway roads are generally not curvy, I make normal small adjustments while driving to stay centered in my line. Almost continuously, however, when I attempt to make these steering inputs and adjustments, my steering wheel feels "stuck in place" for a up to a second before I finally apply enough force and the steering wheel moves. When it does finally move, the steering wheel's movements are sudden and jerky. It almost feels like my steering wheel is "fighting to stay unmoved" for a split second or so. I have a 2017 Honda Civic and the steering feels normal and smooth on the highway. My assumption is either a hardware or software issue with the electric power steering system.

Sticky steering causing resistance when straightening the wheel from a slight turn. I live in the North GA mountains and my daily travel consists of many curves. When slightly turning the wheel left or right, then when trying to straighten the wheel back into place it feels as though the wheel catches/sticks. The resistance when trying to straighten the wheel causes me to apply more pressure and force when straightening the wheel back into place. I feel as though this could cause an accident and it scary. It’s been doing it daily on every drive over the last month. Purchased the car in June 2023. My husband which is a police officer has driven the car as well and has also noticed the issue and he believes it has gotten worse. Please help!

At speeds above 40 miles on the highway, the steering occasionally feels sticky or resistant, disrupting the smoothness of the drive. The best way I can explain it is this: Imagine you're driving on a straight road at a speed above 40 Miles, gradual turn with the steering wheel turned only slightly. Then, when you need to adjust it a bit more to stay on the road, it feels like there's a momentary increase in resistance, almost as if the steering briefly "sticks" and then returns to its usual firmness. It's as if the steering wheel gets stuck in a groove during the gentle turn, and the resistance doesn't have a smooth feel when you're trying to adjust further into or out of the turn. If I were to make an educated guess, it could be related to one of the safety systems integrated into the steering mechanism. This issue seems to persist even when Lane Departure Warning and Lane Keep Assist are turned off.

The contact owns a 2023 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that after he parked and turned off the vehicle, he pressed the button to the electronic parking brake, but the parking brake failed to engage. A message was displayed on the instrument panel to “Take the vehicle to the dealer”. A dealer was notified of the failure and an appointment was scheduled. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 3,700.

Yesterday, temporarily, the car would not move when placed in gear. It was parked in our car port. Everything seemed to be normal until the car was placed in reverse (R). Pressure on the gas pedal produced no response. Putting the car in drive (D) also produced no response. All the settings seemed normal, no brake lock engaged etc. Powering the car off and then back on did not improve the situation until about the third attempt, when spontaneously the car resumed normal functions. The safety risk is that there are times when in an emergency, one must reverse the car out of an intersection to avoid a collision, or otherwise move backward, for example to allow an emergency vehicle to cross lanes. If the car suddenly becomes immobile, there are many situations in which this could be dangerous. Just knowing that the transmission is unreliable is a great concern. We are making an appointment with the dealer for a routine oil change, and will report the issue to him at that time. The auto has also had one recall which was attended by the dealer. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2023-2026 CR-V Hybrid, Accord Hybrid, and 2025-2026 CR-V Fuel Cell EV vehicles. When using the tire repair kit, pressure may build within the sealant bottle, causing the bottle cap to detach.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A detached bottle cap can become a projectile and strike the user or others nearby, increasing the risk of injury.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the tire repair kit nozzle or sealant bottle, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed July 27, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated in Fall 2026. Owners may contact Honda's customer service at 1-866-784-1870. Honda's number for this recall is DOV. Consequence: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.

EA23003 · Momentary Increased Steering Effort

On November 29, 2023, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened this Engineering Analysis (EA23003) to assess allegations of momentary increase in steering effort in model years (MY) 2022-2023 Honda Civic, 2023MY Honda CR-V, and 2023MY Acura Integra vehicles (subject vehicles). The complaints received by ODI alleged that the subject vehicles experienced a momentary increase in required steering effort (described as “sticky steering”) occurring mostly at highway speeds after driving for an extended amount of time; these complaints could not be duplicated during dealer service technicians’ quick test drives. The complaints had been received over the previous two years with most occurring with low vehicle mileage. The steering gear of these vehicles is aided by an electrical power assist unit. This power assist unit inputs force on the steering rack via a worm gear and worm wheel assembly. During PE23005, Honda stated this condition of momentary increase in steering effort occurs due to two factors within this power assist unit. First, during manufacturing, the steering worm wheel goes through annealing and component conditioning processes. These processes cause internal stress and strain within the steering worm wheel. This strain is slowly released over the first few months of the vehicle life. Over time, the released strain causes deformation of the teeth on the worm wheel, causing the worm gear to catch on the worm wheel. This catching results in the driver’s momentary increased steering effort. Second, the manufacturing process did not guarantee consistent grease application and, therefore, some subject vehicles received insufficient grease which contributed to the momentary increase in steering effort. During EA23003, ODI further analyzed the potential safety related consequences of the momentary increase in steering effort. NHTSA’s Vehicle Research and Test Center (VRTC) duplicated the allegations of increased steering effort. In addition, VRTC discovered the steering worm wheel and worm gear tended to push grease out of the meshing area, resulting in large amounts of grease resting on top of the worm wheel. Information Request responses collected and reviewed by ODI showed Honda had also discovered this additional root cause during NHTSA’s EA. In addition, Honda discovered the preload of the worm wheel gear spring was set too high, increasing the gear slide load and resulting in higher friction and increased torque fluctuation when steering. The number of consumer complaints made to ODI continued to increase with the expansion of scope from the PE to the EA. Additionally, during EA23003, ODI received ten complaints alleging a crash, in addition to the 13 complaints ODI had received as of the time it opened EA23003. In total, 23 crashes have been reported to ODI due to this alleged defect. On October 3, 2024, Honda filed NHTSA Recall No. 24V-744 to address this defect. The recall will provide consumers with a new steering worm wheel gear spring with a decreased load. Additionally, dealerships will add additional grease and relocate any grease sitting on top of the worm wheel back into the meshing area. The scope of this recall includes all Honda vehicles that were manufactured with this specific improperly produced steering worm wheel and spring. In view of the recall action being taken by Honda, ODI is closing EA23003. NHTSA reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by future circumstances.
